Vehicle description
Meet “Ron Johnson”, a 1984 Cadillac Sedan Deville. A Seattle native, “Ron” was originally sold in September, 1984 by Ron Johnson the lead salesman at Shoreline Cadillac, just north of Seattle. Ron (the car not the salesman) has spent his entire life babied by his owners. He was obviously loved.
While physically he’s got several age marks (bumps, scrapes, dents), he’s been fully maintained. His fuel injected engine starts right up, without fail, has never left me stranded and even still clearly communicates his real-time gas mileage (15 city, 19 highway) in real-time.
Ron’s current mileage is 147,XXX however his 4100 V8 engine was replaced at 81,000. Even after 36 years of service, everything but the power antenna (those never work), A/C (needs a charge) and auto-leveling system (replaced with reliable shocks) still works. Ron still maintains his original keys (with Cadillac keychain, custom engraved with the saying “Thank You - Ron Johnson”), owner"s manual and trunk mat.
As mentioned, Ron was loved. While in my possession, all maintenance was performed by a local shop:
Full headliner replacement Full exhaust replacement Alternator replacement New(er) tires with great tread
Power steering and coolant hose replacement Fresh fluids at each 3,000 miles (including the often forgotten GM coolant tabs) Wheel bearings and ball joint replacement Full ignition service, rotor, cap, plugs and wires Complete tune-up, throttle body clean/rebuild and ECM replacement in May, 2017 New body fillers (ready to paint and install - a $450 value)
Also, for those in WA State, Ron has achieved “Collector Car” status, where annual car tabs/registration/taxes are no longer required.
