Vehicle description
1983 Cadillac Eldorado – “BAD CADDY” – 1 of a kind! Up for bid is an extremely nice, one of a kind, 1983 Cadillac Eldorado. I bought this three years ago off the son of the original owner. I even have a license plate surround from the selling dealership. The number of owners in the AutoCheck is from the original owner moving around and then his son taking ownership. I’ve had my fun driving it around and at the car shows, but now it’s time to move on. I’ll do my best to go over the car and will talk to anyone who’s interested. The paint is original and looks great. There is no rust or dings, except for a few dimples in the lower stainless trim. The prior owner did a lot to the car, basically a “home” restoration. In his exact words “This was my dad"s car who passed away. I restored it to the way he would have loved.” Restoration included: · Rebuilt top end of 4.1 Aluminum V8 · New Cooling system, radiator, water pump, hoses, GM radiator additive (critical to these cars) · Converted AC R134A (although it now needs a charge) · Suspension - upgraded 4-wheel disk brakes, Wilwood calipers, stop tech cross-drilled vented rotors, ceramic pads, new shocks · Diamondback white-wall tires · New carpet and Cadillac monogrammed floor mats · New Ostrich leather headliner and sail panels · New trunk carpet · New E&G Classics "Rolls-Royce" style front grill · E&G Classics rear continental kit · Curb-feelers (but not on the car now in case new owner ships to avoid damage) · Automatic leveling rear air ride shocks (hard to find new old stock OEM) · Vinyl roof wrap to imitate the Biarritz stainless roof · JEGS side-pipe true dual exhaust (please note, as a result, the “Service Now” light will come on sometimes because of the lack of an O2 sensor – resetting is simple) When I bought the car, I went a bit further · New alternator and wiring · New AutoZone Duralast Gold battery · NOS cruise / turn signal stalk · NOS transmission oil pan, cork gasket, and fluid (original pan included) · Replacement IP top trim panel (original included but with cracks if you want it) · Replacement door panels (original included but with cracks if you want them) · Refurbished front driver seat · New OEM front speakers · Rebuilt AM/FM Stereo Eight (8-Track) sound system (original cassette system included but does not work) · New set of curb-feelers (but not on the car now in case new owner ships). · Rebuilt power antenna included – which is not on the car because I don’t want to pull the fender. I have hooked up a shortly antenna which is inside the car. Also included is a static antenna if the new owner wants to replace with a fixed mast · NOS gold plated power antenna fender trim bezel (try finding one of those – an extra is included too) · Replacement OEM taillights with excellent Cadillac emblems · NOS luggage rack stanchions (this is a corvette-type luggage rack) · NOS continental kit reverse lens covers · Newly upholstered sun visors (not currently installed, but included)
The car runs great, and it has a current New York State inspection. Although the car is for sale, I will not give this away. It’s just too pimp and too much fun! I’ve never seen another Eldo of this generation with functioning side pipes. Mileage is low for a 38-year-old car in my opinion. The build sheet is included and can be emailed to you as a PDF. I am also including the owner’s manuals, stereo manual, Cadillac brochures and three sets of keys (one set is original). If you search the VIN, you will find the ads from when I bought the car. Needs:
Although nice, the car is not perfect. Being a GM of this era, you need to hunt and peck to get the column shifter into gear (it needs a new gasket which is included). The AC needs a recharge, and the power antenna needs to be replaced. If you want to stop the “Service Now” light from coming on, you’ll need to add an O2 sensor, which folks have done with headers and side-pipes (info available online). The seat transmissions are also shot (driver is disconnected). I have the seats set for my height and should work for anyone 5’8” to about 6’3”. I will include a set of updated power seat bases from the 84/85 Eldos that did not use the troublesome seat-transmissions, but you’ll need to adapt the connectors to install. The driver side Opera Light lens cover is also missing on the exterior sail panel – I have an entire set if you want to swap out. The car is currently garaged in upstate New York and available for viewing if local. My name is John, and I can be reached at to discuss the car. I am not a dealer. I can assist with shipping, but you must pay all costs. I can store the car in my garage while you arrange shipping. I will include all of my parts stash that will fit in the car, but the trunk will be pretty full with the two power seat bases and the original door panels. Pick it up with a trailer and you can have everything! I will consider interesting partial trades (especially vintage station wagons), but you will have to pay all transportation costs. Please look closely at the pictures as they are part of the description. As you can see, this Eldo is in nice shape. I need to turn in the plates to take the car off the road, but I can include a spare set of the BADCADDY plates (the last version of NYS plates which are Orange and Blue) for your “fun” use. Additional photos are available upon request. Thanks, good luck, and Happy Bidding!
