Vehicle description
About this vehicle This 1980 Triumph TR 7 is a restored vehicle with updates to the drivetrain. The owner has had it for 5+ years. The vehicle runs great and is mainly used for car shows. Seller"s Notes See Description Vehicle Details * Note regarding the 102,000 mileage- that is the odometer mileage, the engine and transmission rebuild has less than 1000 miles clocked. . Hi, here is my story, buckle-up. I bought this car in 1986 as a teenager. I am the second owner. I drove the car until 1991 when it went into storage until 1998. In 1998, I did an extensive restoration to include: KYB shocks and struts, a complete custom paint restoration with 5 coats of base and 2 clear coats. It is the original color, Carmine Red. That year I also did a “John’s Cars of Dallas, Texas” Buick V6 4.1 liter, 252ci engine conversion/swap with headers. (Keep reading, the original engine and transmission included). The exhaust is custom and fitted in the rear to resemble the TR8. The transmission is a T5 (5 speed manual), from an 80’s era Camaro Z28. This combination has ran flawlessly for over 23 years. It has a Mallory Ignition System. Also in 1998, I replaced the entire interior and tonneau cover from the former company known as Victoria British, LLC. I rebuilt the engine again in 2009 to include a nice Edelbrock four barrel carburetor, cam shaft and intake manifold. It has an increased bore and new pistons. In 2013, I added the TR8 wheels and new tires. (Original OEM hub caps included). I also replaced the wiring harness. Over the past few years the car has been parked in my climate controlled garage due to a right arm injury requiring surgery. Since then, I have been unable to drive stick and I am selling both my manual cars. This year I have completed the following: In March 2021, I installed new front calipers, EBC Green Stuff brake pads, brake lines, a new custom brake proportioning valve, master cylinder and fluids. In April 2021, I replaced the fuel lines, fuel filter, fuel pump, fuel sending unit and replaced the entire tank with fresh nonethanol gas. I had the carburetor rebuilt and replaced the throttle cable and linkage. I replaced the battery and starter. In June 2021, I replaced the convertible top with a Robbins top from Moss Motors (the best brand out there). It is the black crushed grain, zipper-out back window version. Again, all just over the past couple of months. * To date, the rebuilt engine and tires have less than 1000 miles clocked. The car has a total of 102,000 miles. The car includes the original numbers matching engine and transmission with all of the original parts to return the car to original. I felt this was necessary to keep its value. You must take all of it so bring a truck and two strong friends. The original engine and transmission has 98,000 miles. The original transmission is solid and in 100% working condition. The original engine runs but needs a head gasket. They both run great. All lights work including both pop-up headlights. It includes an 80’s era Alpine (removable- it slides out), stereo. The car has not seen rain in over 30 years The air conditioning was removed and I did not reinstall it. It can be installed, but I never found a need since I only drove it with the top down and never in the rain. It leaks a slight bit of oil since I have let it sit. It is not a bad leak but I prefer to disclose everything. Some minor issues- the clock has not worked since the 80’s, the tach is disconnected, I will try to fix soon. The paint restoration is still fantastic with only a few minor flaws due to age. I have the trunk decals but have not installed them. Also included are: the Owner’s Manual, many decals, three Shop Repair Manuals, Motor Trend Car ads from the 70’s and 80’s, dealer advertisements, an 80’s era front bra, battery tender and a car cover. Again, the top, interior, brakes, engine and tires are like new. This car is 100% accident free, and it is a rust free Florida, USA car. The car needs nothing except what’s noted. $6,900.00- firm please, it is priced to sell. Thanks, John. Exterior Interior Engine Download the Motors app
