Vehicle description
You are viewing a super rare, unrestored 1980 Jeep CJ-5 Laredo. This has always been a Southern USA Jeep so it has never been exposed to harsh winters, road salt, etc. I have a clear and clean title and the Jeep has never been wrecked, re-tubbed, cut up, patched up, etc. The Laredo is by far the most desirable model Jeep and it is also the most difficult model to find! Here are some details about this rare CJ,
Orig. 258 in-line 6 cylinder engine Orig. T-176 4 speed trans. 4WD with lock in lock out hubs Power steering Power front disc brakes Tilt steering wheel Factory Tachometer Heavy duty winch Tuffy lock box center console Bestop Supertop Nerf bars/side steps Suspension Lift Kit 32x11.50 all terrain tires Chrome wheels Moser one piece axles Custom tow hitch Off road lights Custom exhaust header and dual mufflers Orig. paint and Laredo decals I have the soft doors and back window for the top too (just not in pictures but included with sale) Etc. The paint and body are in good original condition. The paint and decals show very nice patina due to being 37 years old! The body is pretty straight but does have some minor dents/dings, etc. All of the panels are original to the Jeep. it has never been taken apart and pieced back together like so many of these older CJs. There is some rust in the passenger side floor board and a little on the back of the tail panel near the license plate bracket. These areas would only need to be addressed if you plan on restoring the Jeep. My idea (if I keep this one) would be to keep it like it is because I love the patina look! I will include a replacement floor pan with the sale of this Jeep. Mechanically, the Jeep is good. It starts easily with one pat on the gas pedal and then after a few minutes idles well. The motor runs well and does not smoke, knock, run hot, etc. I have driven this Jeep around town and even on the freeway and it has not let me down. It drives much better around town than on the freeway as most older CJs do though. It shifts through all the gears fine and the 4WD works as it should. The tires are at least 70% and the brakes feel fine too. Overall, this has been a good running, reliable CJ that I have been able to jump in and drive the kids to the ballpark, ice cream parlor, etc. with no problems. Please keep in mind though that this is a 37 year old unrestored vehicle. You should not expect it to drive and feel like a new $40K Jeep JK. I can and have shipped CJs all over the world. I will be happy to arrange shipping for you. Many of my auctions end with just a phone call. Don"t hesitate to call with your questions or offers. 205-276-1918
