Vehicle description
1979 Volkswagen rabbit 4 door diesel car. The car runs and drives. Tires are good. Brakes work and stop. Has old diesel in it and has not been on the road for about 5 years so it smokes a bit until it"s warm.
Details: Yes the body LOOKS like it"s rusty but I know these cars really really well and it"s very solid. Towers are clean, A arms are clean. Floor pans are pretty good. It does have some folding at the pinch weld jack points but it"s not miserable and I would NOT consider it a rusty car. The surface has cool patina but NONE of it is anything but small surface coloring. The driver side A pillar does have a rust hole about the size of a half dollar.
Interior is in really good shape considering it sat in a barn for 5 years. Driver seat has some wear on the edges other than that the seats are in really good condition. Dash is cracked as always. Headliner is intact but needs some cleaning. Interior is very original and nothing is hacked up. Door cards are nice.
Motor starts easy. It"s a 1.6 diesel with a 4 speed trans. Shifts super clean. I assume the milage is 156,000ish. Car was purchased from a guy that drove it from New mexico to Alaska and lived a life there for a while before it was driven to colorado and put in storage. It does have a second fuel tank in the truck. You can see the second filler cap next to the license plate. It"s small and easy to remove. Probably holds 3 gallons. Previous owner never registered it in Alaska and has since lost the title. It"s very easy and not very expensive to get a replacement.
