I purchased 10 years ago from estate of the California Detective, and drove cross-country back to Kentucky without any issues. Vehicle has Kentucky DMV-assigned VIN because California Highway Patrol purchased vehicle after it was stolen in the first week of ownership by original-owner, a San Francisco Dentist. .the only thing removed from the original car were both original VIN plates.
