1979 GMC HD 2500 4X4 Camper Special 8400GVW. This truck was a nice rust free 56,000 original miles truck when it was restored in the late 80"s by the Winchester Truck Company in Ritzville WA. Winchester specialized in frame off high quality restorations of 70"s to early 80"s GM trucks, blazers and suburbans and although they went out of business in the 90"s they are still highly regarded as a top quality restorer of GM trucks.
Farmers and discerning truck owners had Winchester restore their trucks and proudly drove them instead of buying brand new trucks. I am the second owner who bought mine with only 65,000 total original miles from the estate of a retired engineer. I drove it as my daily driver for the first two years putting about 20,000 miles on it, then in the last 20 years have only put 20,000 more miles on it for total original mileage of 96,450, just 40,000 miles since it was totally restored.
This is a great truck that drives solid without rattles and is very reliable. Thumbs up ever time I take it out, but after owning for 25 years and not using it much. . maybe time for a new home.
PS, AC, tilt wheel, delay wipers, cruise control, Two factory fuel tanks, Two stainless factory towing mirrors, 1 ton Camper Special big brakes and 1 ton Camper Special HD suspension, HD cooling, refreshed stock interior, factory build sheet under front seat. Black spray in bed liner. When exhaust system was replaced due to no longer requiring emissions the catalytic converter was eliminated.
Two years ago had a dealer of collector vehicles drive the truck, closely look under and over the entire vehicle, and he said this is a very nice truck and with the Winchester heritage he estimated market value at $25,000 less detailing, any repairs, advertising, plus his 10% selling costs.
While every effort has been made to describe this truck as accurately as possible, it is in fact a 38-year-old classic, and is sold as-is, without warranty. This is not a flawless vehicle; it is a nicely restored original, and should be expected to have flaws associated with a vehicle of this age and mileage. Buyer is responsible for shipping costs, not interested in any trades, and please I do not need help selling. . thank you.
