Vehicle description
Up for sale is one of the rare Karmann Volkswagen Champagne Edition Beetle Convertibles. Each dealership was given one or two of these cars to sell in 1977 and 1978 (S723 Special US Sales Campaign). Restoration was finished in 2012. Bodywork and paint was performed by Earl Mann in Ardmore OK. All new body rubber, seat covers, trim, carpet, and mats were installed. Sewfine tan canvas convertible top installed and has matching boot when the top is stowed down. The dashboard is original and nearly perfect, with one small crack forming in the vinyl skin.
The engine was upgraded to a new Strictly Foreign 1776cc motor with a weber progressive carburetor. This one does not drip oil like most older VW engines and has only 1000 miles on it. Transmission is a rebuilt stock manual 4-speed with 4000 miles. Top speed is 80mph. The front brakes have been converted to disc brakes (Karmann Ghia design) with German bearings. Wheels are vintage Western Cyclone rims.
Car presents well and wins first or second place in its class in most VW car shows. There are three small cracks in the paint that are only noticeable upon close (within 1 ft) inspection.
Sale will include the original fuel injection components along with a catalytic exhaust manifold. Check your local vehicle emission requirements. This car will not pass the modern emission treadmill test in its current carbureted configuration. Some localities will exempt emissions testing if it is registered and insured as a classic car.
The interior is currently oatmeal loop carpet kick panels with black rubber floor mats, similar to the original factory design. Car will come with two matching oatmeal loop floor pieces if you want to replace the rubber mats will full carpet. No overseas purchases. If you have less than 10 feedback scores, please contact seller before buying.
