Vehicle description
Green Exterior with Grey Interior; Folding Top Cab; 5.7-Liter Inline-6 Diesel—Engine Type 352 (Model 353.940) with 109 hp and 231 lbs-ft of Torque; Manual Transmission; 4-Wheel Drive; 20 Forward Gears and 8 Reverse Gears; 15,000-lb Front Winch; 9,000-lb Rear Winch; Air/Hydraulic Brakes; Compressed Air Tank for Pneumatic Tools, etc.; Drop-side Bed with Custom Lockable Tool Box/6-passenger Bench; Excellent Condition. Fox Motorsports purchased this 1978 Mercedes-Benz Unimog out of Tucson, Arizona in May of 2013. It was then transported to Grand Rapids, Michigan, where it has been in climate-controlled storage other than very occasional use. I purchased the vehicle from Fox and it is now located at my home in Orange County, California. This Unimog has 20 forward gears—Conventional Gears, Crawler Gears, and Super Crawler Gears. Maximum speed in first gear is only 0.06 mph, for extremely heavy towing, etc. The previous owner set up this Unimog 416 for off-road use. The compressed air tank, fuel tank, and auxiliary fuel tank have been raised from their stock locations for increased ground clearance. 42-inch tires and Portal axles provide impressive ground clearance, particularly down the centerline of the truck. There is a 15,000-lb front Warn winch and a 9,000-lb rear Ramsey winch. The compressed air tank is set-up for pneumatic tools or to use with the included air inflator to adjust tire pressure. An extra-high intake snorkel sits 8-feet off the ground. Other features include a heavy-duty roll bar/hoop, air-cushioned front seats, and LED taillights. The condition of this Unimog is excellent. It was completely refreshed/rebuilt shortly before we purchased it and it shows. There is no corrosion or rust, and the underside of the Unimog is finished to the same level as the topside. The Unimog was recently pulled out of storage, inspected, started, and driven. During this time, one of the two Optima batteries in the 24-Volt electrical system and the starter button were replaced. The Unimog runs and drives, with no issues.
