Up for your consideration is a fairly priced 1978 Alfa Romeo Spider. Garages kept and stored. A very solid example that needs some things to get it ready for the road. The car runs and drives, however it needs brake pads and rotors, and some engine timing adjustments. Hence I would bring a trailer so this can be corrected. It currently has a Marelli Plex electronic ignition that is about as old as the car and though I have replaced the pickups and hei module and torn it down and cleaned it, the system really needs to be upgraded to a more modern equivalent as there is play in the shaft causing timing fluctuations. So I am including in the sale a new electronic ignition and Bosch blue coil I purchased through centerline. I have replaced the plugs and wires. The car has a newer Spica thermostatic actuator installed, I changed all the fuel filters recently as well as the Spica pump filter. I will include with the sale a pair of 40 Dellorto carbs, a European intake manifold, and proper throttle pedal as I intended to convert the car over to European carbs for easier maintenance. I will include some other miscellaneous new items as well such as exhaust hanger, speedo cable. . The interior is in nice shape, newer carpets are installed, and the seats are in good shape for 40 years of asses sitting in them! The dash has a few cracks by the vents which is unfortunately a trade mark of these cars. The cars top fabric is decent, a new rear window can be sewn in ( previous owner cut it out when it got torn.). Top assembly operates smoothly and clamps in well. Body and structure wise this is a very very solid car. The underside is clean, and the body is solid. The only notable corrosion is the small bubbles in one area on the passenger front quarter panel. There are a few dents and dings, see pictures, and the paint could use a freshening. I removed the rear bumper as it should be replaced, I was going to go with the fiberglass bumper replacement through Eriminas Imports, however the stainless steel conversions are really the best way to go in my opinion. I have owned Alfas for over 25 years and have tried to describe the car to the best of my ability. I feel this is a car worthy of the final touches to make it a fabulous road cruiser once again. I just don"t have the time to finish it at this point, other business plans are taking over my time unfortunately. These series 2 Spiders are rapidly appreciating and to get one in this condition at this price is going to be a thing of the past soon. I have priced it fairly taking into consideration the issues it still needs remedied. For the buy it now price I will include a spare engine for the car.
