Vehicle description
This FJ40 is being relisted as the buyer was unable to complete the transaction.
Available for purchase is a 1977 FJ40 with 57K on the ticker. I have done my best to preserve this FJ40.
What can I say? Everything works! I have spent a lot of time working to preserve an original FJ. I have taken extensive pictures to document the preservation process. This vehicle was towed by the previous owner and the jumper for the lights is included, I have removed the rear tow lights that were added as they just weren"t becoming a survivor FJ.
The body was removed from the chassis and the engine, transmission and transfer case were removed from the chassis. The bare chassis was stripped and coated in Imron. The tie-rod ends were all replaced. While the chassis was being stripped The underside of the tub and fenders were prepped and coated in bed-liner material. I did take pictures of the raw tub and fenders that show that they are solid. The engine was reinstalled along with painted driveshafts. New shocks, shackles and body bushings were also introduced at time of reassembly. I did not save the originals and now I wish I would have, again I did take pictures. The exterior has had nothing done except a thorough cleaning to show the patina. The wheels and front bezel were stripped and painted. There isn"t any body work of any kind on this cruiser and all the spot welds are readily visible. All glass is original TEQ and presents itself well. The front windshield could be replaced as there are a couple chips but again it is the original. I replaced the worn side mirrors with Euro spec replacements and have managed to source an original drivers arm and OEM mirror head. The Warn 8274 functions as intended. Every light works including, Headlights, marker lights, signals, seat-belt light, Brake light, interior brake light, backup lights, fog lights, and switch, gauge cluster lights, green dash light and dome light. The gutters are rust free and nothing has been done to hide anything. There was rust at the rear sill plate that was cut out and replaced, pictures to document the repair on hand. The tires have plenty of tread on them, the spare is from 1982 and holds air. All stickers that came on the FJ are present, Warn locking hubs, Unleaded fuel only on fuel filler door, under hood stickers and drivers door stickers.
Areas of concern: The dash has two cracks and I considered replacing it but finally chose to preserve this as a survivor given the condition. All doors are solid and close effortlessly but there is minor bubbling under the rear ambulance doors closest to the hinges. Where the passenger fender attaches to the step is not museum quality, I will try and give this some attention.
All in all I have done my best to preserve what I believe to be an excellent example of a well cared for FJ. I have not cut any corners and have carefully documented every step. I welcome trades of the Toyota 4x4 type.
If you have any questions or need additional pictures feel free to call me directly 561-213-7075. Thank you for your interest.
Just installed a different set of wheels and 31" tires
