1977 Fiat X1/9. This unmolested example was put into storage in the early "90s because the smog equipment was removed and could not be registered in California. Fast forward to the early 2000s and the car was acquired by a Fiat parts specialist that replaced all the missing equipment and proceeded to make the car legal and road worthy again. It was subsequently sold and further improvements were undertaken including: New poly suspension bushings New KYB gas struts on all four corners Mark Plaia "Bigfoot" upper strut top reinforcement plates and upper strut mounts Completely refurbished braking system Cromadora CD-91 5x13 wheels New Clutch Fresh MTL 90 transaxle fluid New drive axle boots New timing and drive belts New water pump All fuel hoses Fuel filler neck hose New electric fuel pump New ignition switch New radiator hoses Body refinished in original factory paint code 761 5 MPH "Cowcatcher" bumpers replaced with Midwest-Bayless bumper block kit Completely reupholstered seats The car has: 51,845 ORIGINAL CALIFORNIA miles It"s original UNCRACKED and UNCUT dash Original door cards and rear vinyl bulkhead trim Original "cornrow" carpeting Original Fiat logo retractable seat belts Zero electrical gremlins - everything operates as designed including the horn All original body panels including floors. 99.9% rust free (there might be something somewhere, but nothing I"ve ever been able to find in the years I"ve owned it) While no 43 year old is perfect, this one is about as close as you will ever find. The car is rust-free and absolutely drives as new. The transaxle has ZERO issues like almost all early X1/9s do; no notchy shifting, no 2-3 shift grinding or reverse shifting issues. It runs, drives, and stops like a Swiss watch. It is truly a remarkable example and one of very, very few examples that remain in this condition. It needs nothing to be enjoyed but a new driver; however, although the tire tread is good, they are an older date code and should be replaced before any long distance travel. Study the pictures carefully as they say it all. ASK ALL YOUR QUESTIONS prior to bidding. This comes with a CLEAN / CLEAR CALIFORNIA TITLE IN MY NAME, and the title matches the VIN plates and the stamped VIN in the forward bulkhead. It is currently registered and insured so there are no back fees due.
All transportation arrangements whether by carrier or any other means are the responsibility of the buyer. I will do everything on my end to assist your carrier in meeting their scheduling issues. For any overseas buyers, the car is approximately an hour from the Port of Los Angeles and should not present any problem for your broker to arrange easy transport and shipping to your location anywhere in the world. A $500.00 non-refundable deposit is required via Paypal immediately. Failure to post the deposit as indicated will lead to sale cancellation. The remaining balance can not be paid via Paypal; the balance is payable in cash, or wire transfer only within 3 days of auction close. Vehicle needs to be picked up within 2 weeks of auction close. All funds must clear my bank before the vehicle leaves without exception. Should go without saying but….the vehicle is sold AS IS, WHERE IS, and is WITHOUT WARRANTY of ANY kind.
