Vehicle description
VIN 9306800237 Rust free number matching California delivery with Porsche Certificate of Authenticity. Exterior color # 436-9-3 Sienna ( Burgundy ) metallic. Interior is black leather. 75,619 actual miles and 618 miles since a complete engine restoration. This Porsche spent its entire existence in the greater San Francisco Bay area until I purchased it in March of 2013 and brought it to Pennsylvania .The previous owner made several modifications which I will list below. Engine: 3.2L pistons/cylinder, carrera chain tensioners, twin plugged heads, cams ground SC specs, cam towers, valve covers, added intercooler, Garrett turbo, exhaust system. Late-carrera style oil cooler with electric fan and stone protection guard. Body: late style tea tray engine lid, Borbet wheels, added passenger side view mirror, welded antenna opening closed. Car was repainted at this time ( circa 1992 ). Interior: After market cassette stereo and an alarm system. Original parts that I purchased from previous owner: Heat exchangers, air injection system, rear window wiper motor, AC compressor, hoses, condenser (from engine lid) and power antenna. My intent was to return this 930 to its original factory specs. Engine: An engine restoration was completed in March of 2016. Every part of the engine was cleaned, examined, refurbished or replaced. Parts acquired for restoration included: Piston/cylinders, cam towers, cam boxes, cam shafts and rockers, cam covers, muffler, turbo and turbo cross over pipe, turbo brackets, intake valve covers, intake assembly with pop off valve. Parts purchased were produced between mid to late 1975 which coincide with original parts used by the factory on this 930 build. The only original Bischoff muffler found had production date 11/1976. Also could not find acceptable used pistons and cylinders so purchased new original 95mm 6.5-1 compression ratio Mahle pistons and cylinders from Germany. Body: Genuine Fuchs, front 7Jx15 date stamped 8/75, rear 8Jx15 date stamped 11/75. Rebuild front S calipers, new ball joints, front bearings, seals, brake lines, rear fuel pump, gas lines from pump to engine, rack and pinion bellows, front oil cooler thermostat, all plastic bushings and throttle guides in shifter tunnel . Refurbished heater control boxes installed new cables and plastic sheaths. New interstate AGM battery and I added a battery tender. New throttle bell crank bushings at transmission. Interior: I removed cassette stereo and alarm system and purchased a professionally refurbished U.S. version Blaupunkt Bamberg cassette stereo with memory box and microphone. Not installed but included in sale as well as original Hirschmann power antenna. Repairs needed: Engine due for service: change oil and filter, adjust valves, re-torque cylinder head hardware, go over engine set up. Rear brake calipers need rebuilding. Replace rear wheel bearings. Set ride height and four wheel alignment. Change gear oil and replace shift cover plate gasket. Additional repairs needed: Only one horn works. Driver side view mirror operates in only 2 positions. Passenger side view mirror is none operational. Wiring harness needs installation and is included in sale. Oil level gauge is inaccurate. Possibly the oil tank gauge sending unit is faulty. Interior clock doesn’t work. Head light washer pump has broken inlet. Original air conditioning unit is intact; the engine lid condenser and the a/c compressor need installation. Parts included in the sale: OEM whale tail engine lid complete with all major components ( off a 1977 Turbo Carrera ). Plus original rear window wiper motor, AC compressor, condenser and hoses. Air injection tubing to heads. New Turbo Carrera script, new rubber lid stoppers, original Hircshmann power antenna. A professionally refurbished U.S. version Blaupunkt Bamberg cassette stereo with memory box and microphone. I have over 300 pictures of the engine rebuild as well as more pictures of the car. Available upon request.
