Vehicle description
I will ship this car for free anywhere in the continental US for free using u-Ship.
This true 1976 Austin Mini 1000 is currently located in Oakland, CA with Virginia registration, tags, and a clear Virginia title. The car is a blast to drive but I no longer have room for it where I live. I use it as an occasional daily driver to work. You can fit this car into parking spaces that no other car will fit in. Dating letter from the British heritage museum states production was March 27th, 1975. This Mini gets more thumbs up, waves, and attention from people than any car I"ve ever driven!
Exterior: Blue with white roof and white hood stripes. Very little rust in body or floors. Original black plastic flares under aftermarket color matched flares. All original chrome trim in place. Monza fuel cap on 7.5 gallon tank. All weatherstripping intact and complete. Boot floor and battery box in excellent condition. Paint was done 10 years ago and could use a few touch ups.
Drivetrain: 4 cylinder with four speed manual. Recent valve adjustment, spark plugs, and carb tune. New locking choke cable. New clutch master cylinder. Transmission is rough on 2nd gear down shifts unless you double clutch and rev match, which I"m told is normal for minis with this transmission. Will do 65 on highway @4200rpm with no problems but struggles a bit on large steep hills. Unsure if engine and transmission are original.
Suspension: Recent ball joint and lower control arm bolt replaced. New poly subframe mounts.
Brakes: 4 wheel drums. All new brake shoes and hardware. All new wheel cylinders, master cylinder and engine compartment lines. New center parking brake cable.
Wheels: 10" Mini Lites with 165/80r10 Tesca tires with full size matching spare in the boot.
Electrical: Car has been completely rewired similar to original, but with the addition of a fuse/ relay box in the engine compartment and a fuse box in the passenger compartment to protect all circuits. All instrument and dash components are functional including gauges, hazards, brake lamps, turn signals, fog lights, and back up light. New 130mph speedometer has only 640 miles on it. It reads incorrectly by a few mph. Ignition switch has recently been replace and comes with two new keys.
Stereo: Sony head unit with remote and two 6x9 speakers. All mounted under rear seat to maintain factory looking instrument panel and prevent theft. Aux input discreetly located next to gauge cluster.
Interior: Seats and door panels trimmed in Black and blue leatherette. Original steering wheel. New pedal pads. Complete headliner. Fully carpeted interior and boot. Functional three point front seat belts. Window cranks and rear vent windows function perfectly.
