1975 Volvo TGB11 (24Volt) Registered legally in California - current and title in hand Non Alu-zinc Purchased this vehicle 6 years ago. We have used it for multiple camping trips and as a promotional vehicle for a local business. We have gone on trips well over 300+ miles and no issues. Runs great, top speed is around 60-65 mph. We built it out for camping trips with our family and friends. We are not using it as much as we originally planned, our daughter will be entering high school, we will be doing more travelling for her sports, less camping in the coming years and would rather not see it sitting in the driveway, where it can be used and cared for by someone else who can use it as intended. It is not the sought after Alu-zinc model. It does have some rust spots, but nothing that couldn’t be repaired easily. We had it repainted about two years ago with a standard hot rod black paint. Most small parts, front bumper and various other parts were powder coated semi-gloss black. The original oak rub rails were in poor repair, so I made sets out of steel and had them powder coated, along with lower rock rails. This is not a perfect vehicle, more of a work in progress, but it has never let us down and it is mechanically sound and operates as it should. Have all paperwork including the military books. Needs: Front tires (would replace soon) – Has 315/75/16 KM2 Tires Speedometer cable recently broke. Have been using GPS. Tie Rods could be replaced Crack in Safari window – local glass shop quoted $80 for glass Front Seat covers – one seat has a “custom” cover made from an older CX cycling kit.
Drivetrain: 6 cylinder – runs great, pertronix ignition and coil upgrade. Always run 91 octane with additive 4 speed transmission, shifts smoothly. HI – LO, Lucas Fluid Axles – upgrades CV boots to high performance poly, Lucas Fluids Fox Shocks (2.0 Performance) (less than 200 miles on them) New Brakes - lines, cylinders, shoes, etc. Servos down are new. All flex lines replaced with custom made Stainless flex lines.
Repairs/Upgrades: Military 24v Compressor, viair tank, air distribution block. (Compressor switched to relay, switch on dash, compressor in rear of vehicle, tank tucked nicely under vehicle. Solar (Renogy Panels), Morning Star MPPT controller, installed on top of cab, nested inside a custom powder coated frame. Roof Rack, custom built, holds Tepui tent, 24V LED side lights 2X each side, military spec, switched to the front cab. Headlights upgrade - H4 Backup Lights – 24V Military spec, switched to front cab Electrical system is a dual battery setup, 4 optium batteries, 2X yellowtop (engine) and 2X blue (house) top with remote switches on dash. All marine grade wiring and Blue Seas components used throughout. Sound deadener on all interior panels, reflectix on interior areas. New side doors, zero rust, brand new from old military stock. Had painted to match. Tepui Ruggedized Series Autana 3 with Annex Tepui 8 ft Awning Custom pull out and side cabinets on interior. House Battery System display by Blue Sea Rear Hamburger Tail lights converted to LED Center Console from a Chevy truck installed, works great. USB charger and switch panel on front dash Locker switches converted to electrical vacuum switched, replacing original vacuum only switches.
