Vehicle description
Volkswagen Beetle - Classic. For sale 1973 Volkswagen Beetle Classic edition Everything original and I mean everything! This car was purchased new in Phoenix AZ in 1973 and passed to its current owner in 2008 sounds corny, I know, but the original owner was a little old lady and rarely drove the car. The last 10 years she owned the car she did not drive it at all consequently this 48 year old car has 63,800 verified original miles!
Current owner has logged < 8k miles on the car. It comes equipped with the factory original 1600 CC engine,. sealed tight! There are no oil leaks from this car at all. Sounds incredible, but it is true and the car is as mechanically sound and reliable as can be,. could be used for a daily driver,… today! It can sit for weeks at a time, pump the gas pedal a couple times, turn the key and it fires right up!
The clutch has life in it as do the tires. 4 speed manual transmission shifts smoothly and runs out as it should. 25 MPGS in town, 28 on the highway.
The car is rust free!
This is the perfect car for a VW enthusiast who likes to tinker, and restore. Body work needed is light,. parking lot scuffs and scrapes, paint is original.
Local mechanic performed tune up, changed belts and tightened fuel lines which resulted in a minor fire. The shop took responsibility and performed all needed repairs (this was a few years back) eventually the paint on the engine cover began to slough off (as a result) the current owner didn’t have the heart to ask the shop to paint the engine cover as well. He figured he would correct it with a full body paint job but now , the restoration passion is gone and he is begrudgingly parting with this piece of automotive history. (last year before emissions equipment)
The seat covers used were removed for the photos so that prospective buyers can see the original upholstery and condition I repeat everything on this car is original nothing has been changed since it rolled off the factory floor and everything works.
Except,. headliner was replaced a few years ago and the upholstery shop botched the job you can see the glue discoloration in the photos but . . it is all in one piece !
door panels are original seats and seat covers are original door handles, bumpers, lights virtually everything is original!
A low reserve and this survivor can be in your garage immediately
This car needs ,. no,. . it deserves,… some love!
