About this vehicle This 1973 MG MGBGT is a project vehicle with updates to the drivetrain. The owner has had it for 5+ years. The vehicle needs work and is used as a daily driver. Vehicle Details If you have been looking for a unique GT, then this might be your car. A 1973 MGBGT that I have owned for almost 20 years. The car has at times been my daily driver, driven cross country and the subject of a thousand conversations with strangers who shared their stories of similar adventures in MG’s. For me, the two best features of the car are that it is right hand drive, and the other it is fast. It has an Osselli 2.5 liter performance engine that makes it one of the fastest B’s I have ever driven. The Good - This car has been cherished from day one and I have a book of receipts that go back throughout its history, including the original window sticker. I am the 5th owner and she has had two major bodywork rebuilds- originally yellow/gold and a complete engine rebuild with a Osselli engine -1950cc fast road camshaft, performance distributor and new clutch and lightened flywheel given an increase performance of about 40% on the standard unit and with the increased capacity will give an increase in torque by the same amounts. The odometer was reset at installation of engine and that is what is reflected on the odometer. The interior is good, has a few personal touches such as wood trim, leather seats are in great condition and gorgeous mini lite wheels with three new tires. Sorry, but I jsold the roof rack so it is no longer with the car. The bad: Due to my health, the car hasn’t been started in 6 months and hasn’t been driven in 3 years. The last time I started her, she fired up after putting jumper cables on without issue and with great oil pressure. When I parked the car, the rear brakes needed replacing. Surface “pitting” on chrome, rust on front badge bar, it will need to be replaced or painted Rust on right driver’s rear fender- see photo -if you know anything about these cars, the rust comes from below upward- it’s nothing that will prevent you from driving the car, but at some time, will need to be addressed. Rear hatch alignment- 15 years ago I had rust repaired in rear right fender and the person that did the job got the alignment of the hatch off by 1/8” or less. I see it, but no one else does, it does not leak but I just want to be honest. Roof liner needs replacement - due to being parked, the roof liner glue let go- I had replaced it in 2008 and still have it but it will need to be re-glued. One last thing is that the title has the car listed as a 1978 instead of a 1973, a typo that the Massachusetts DMV made and I never corrected.
