Vehicle description
1972 Mercedes-Benz SL 350 Convertible with a V-8 engine, Automatic transmission and HARD TO FIND European Bumpers. Needs Full Restoration This early 1972 SL was built in November 1971. The first American destined SL’s had “European bumpers” which are more desirable and bring good money alone. These are in very good condition. This car also has the clock found on the early SL"s in the center of the dashboard between the AC/heat vents. ~ The motor and drivetrain were in good operating condition when the vehicle was parked. The dash pad Does not have any cracks and the seats are good condition. The seats are not dried out but have dust build up but no indication of ANY mildew or exposure to water damage. The interior is also dusty but no mildew. the body does show rust but mainly on surface. I am not sure about the floor pans. I do know that this car had a special undercoating when it was purchased new. CAR HISTORY: A very good friend of mine has been the owner of this car since the late 1980s. He was the VP of a local Mercedes dealership until mid December when the company switched ownership. This car Was in pristine condition when came into the dealership as a trade-in on a new SL. When he parked the car it was in good operable condition at 111,656.5 miles. He put it in the back lot for storage. Time went by and it slowly went down hill. The Windows have been pushed in on the soft top for about five years. The dealership switched ownership and the car had to move. In his late 70s he is not interest to restoring the car. The car had always been driven with respect and maintained at the dealership with OEM parts. It is most likely this car could be revived if given an extensive tuneup and cleaning the gas tank and new fuel lines. The vehicle has a CLEAR TITLE I am Not too knowledgeable on Mercedes but I’ll answer the question to my best ability. My interest is Mopar (Dodge/Plymouth/Chrysler). Buyer pays $300 immediate deposit and pay in full and pick up within 5 days. I have the car listed locally on CL, paper, and on Facebook. I have the right to end this auction prior to final date. I am located in the outskirts of Asheville North Carolina. If you have any questions in regards to the vehicle I can be BEST reached by PHONE at 828 – 230 – 2699
