Vehicle description
If you have ever wanted to own a new 1972 short bed 4x4 and haven’t , this might be the closest possibility ever. I have about 42 years experience repairing and/or restoring old Fords. They can be made faster, slower, taller, lowered, rebuilt, balanced, modified etc, But it will never be like driving a good original. This truck drives excellent, no squeaks, no rattles, no bump steer, does not drift.
After all the weather changes in Chattanooga, Arizona is looking really good to me and I do not plan on shipping a car collection when I move. This truck has been stored in California since about 1987 where it sat until about 2015.
Before it went into storage at least some of it was repainted and the motor rebuilt. I purchased the truck and put Skyjacker #172S two inch lift coil springs, new camber bushings and 2 new Skyjacker rear shocks. Then I installed new 15x10 wheels and new 33x12.50x15 Maxxis Bighorn tires and a new battery.
Every time I go to the storage facility this truck cranks right up. Even after 4 or 5 months of Winter.
The really cool:
It is 1972 year model the hardest bump sides to find since last year of that body style. When the headlights are turned on the light in the factory AM radio still works. Truck ordered with cigarette lighter and looks unused and the ashtray is very clean. The instrument needles are still bright orange and not faded. It still has protective wrap around sun visors, and it has a 70’s pattern on it, cool! Cruise control was added to truck. Power brakes. Wow! It has a leather wrapped red steering wheel (it is worn, but it is there!) The H78-15LT spare tire is still mounted under the truck in its rightful place secured with a small and the oldest, master lock I ever saw! 4x4 4 speed option. Fully chromed Sport Custom option. The seat had cover over it and it is still awesome! The 3rd member (pumpkin) in this truck is built like a N-case, (has extra ribs for strength)
the rear axle tag reads 4L09 decoded means 409 gears with locker Inside the bed is perfect has spray in bed liner from long ago, no dents, be glad to send pics
Old Ford trucks have tripled in value in like 2 years, I have watched auctions where Ford trucks out sell old muscle cars. Just recently, a nice young Christian boy came by and told me he was gonna rent a 100,000 + car to take his girl to the prom and she said she wanted to go in an old Ford truck instead. She said she wanted the pictures and whole experience to be special and a new car wasn’t the ticket! I told him I would not rent him one but I would loan him one! Made my day!
The good or not so good: This truck had a camper top and tie downs on side that were removed, So the holes are still there. I was going to put stainless headed nice button screw in them but they aren’t really noticeable so I didn’t.
P.S. full payment due in 3 days unless prior arrangements are before purchase
P.S.S. i prefer to deliver to new owner (for Free) in the continental U.S or buyer or representative of buyer picks it up at my place. i really want new owner to be happy and receives truck in present condition
