Vehicle description
FACTS: There were no V code convertibles produced in 1971, nor was the R/T package available on the convertible. So there is no such thing as a "real one." There were 99 V codes built in 1970, (38 automatics, 61 4-speeds), if you can find one, they sell for $200,000 or more.
This car was built as a "could have been", but with upgrades. You can build one yourself if you wish.
1971 Challenger convertible: 440 six pack date code 11/66 block, Tremec 5-speed transmission, 4 wheel disc brakes, front and rear sway bars, handles like a go-kart. 3 speaker dash. Cragar SS wheels I"ve owned this car for almost 13 years. It was a very nice driver for 9 years, then in 2012, I decided to have it repainted. The car was disassembled down to the body/chassis. (You can"t do a frame off on a unit body) and was completely redone. No corner cutting, even a new wiring harness. The rally dash I do not think was original to the car, so mileage does not mean anything. Drive anywhere, get 15 mpg on the open road. The restoration was completed in July 2014. 1971 convertibles are very rare, only 1857 produced against 3884 in 1970.
Total 1971 production 27,377
Total 1970 production 76,935
Title in hand. Serial # is JH27G1B102203 The reason I am offering my car is simply that it is now too nice to be a driver, you get paranoid where you park, about idiots texting etc. I"m going to look for a nice driver quality mopar convertible that I can enjoy, if it gets dirty, I can wash it. People who know cars this nice know what I"m talking about. I do not need to sell the car, if you"ve read this far, you know what you are looking at. I do not need help selling this car. There are two small cracks (see pictures) at the corners where the quarters attach by the deck lid. They have NOT grown in 3 years since the car was completed, they are going to be repaired if I keep the car. Also, the wipers do not "park", needs a new motor. So I lowered the arms to the park position, right now if you turn them on, they come up about 1/2 way and wipe the lower part of the windshield. I have rain -x on the windshield and haven"t been caught in the rain since the car was restored 3 years ago. AFTER DEPOSIT BY PAYPAL, THE BALANCE WILL BE IN CASH AND THE TRANSACTION WILL TAKE PLACE AT MY BANK. IF YOU CLICK BUY IT NOW, $500 IS DUE IMMEDIATELY TO MY PAYPAL ACCOUNT - THIS IS NON REFUNDABLE I"M NOT GOING TO PLAY GAMES WITH IDIOTS. IF I DO NOT SEE THE DEPOSIT AS SOON AS I SEE THAT YOU CLICKED BUY IT NOW, I WILL FILE AN UNPAID COMPLAINT WITH EBAY. TOO BAD THIS IS NECESSARY, BUT THERE IS VERY LITTLE INTEGRITY OUT THERE.
