Vehicle description
This car was originally delivered the dealer Ungeheuer in Karlsruhe, Germany on 26 October 26th, 1971. It then made its way to the USA prior to 1982 where it spent the rest of its life until we purchased the car late in 2015 and shipped it across to Australia. It was initially bought to be a donor car for my csl restoration, but when it arrived it was just too good to part out! This will become someone else"s good luck story.
The car comes with a comprehensive history file of receipts dating back to 1982!
The car was originally delivered in Polaris silver and has had a full colour change to Fjord Blue. The paint job was done may years ago, and has not weathered well. The paint on the bonnet, roof and bonnet has cracked and faded, and the car will need a repaint. There is also some minor rust work that needs to be attended to. The floors and sills are generally solid but there was some rust on the passenger side floor. We ordered new floor panels from Germany which have now been professionally fitted by a reputable panelshop / restoration garage. Apart from this, there are only some minor rust bubbles on the doors and on the boot lid. The shock towers look good as does the spare wheel well.
Mechanically the car seems fine, and the motor starts easily and runs well. This is not a matching numbers motor, and according to BMW archives, the motor in this car was originally delivered n a 1972 BMW E3 3.0s Bavaria. The car was also originally an Automatic but has been converted to 5 speed manual. The car is running on Bilstein shocks all round and near new Michelin tyres on the original 14" alloys. The car is relatively dry underneath, so no noticeable oil leaks. Some of the suspension rubbers look new, so it looks as though there is very little mechanical work to get the car through Rego.
The interior is pretty neat and the car still sports its original carpets in pretty good condition. The dash is in good shape as are the door panels and roof lining. The seats look to be original as well, and there is very little work required to clean up the interior. This is a pretty solid car and with a bit of a clean up will make a great car.
I"m happy to answer any questions, so please feel free to ask. I have loads more detailed photos available on Dropbox as eBay only allows limited 12 photos per listing. Send me your email address and I"ll link you to the folder.
You are Bidding to to Buy, so please make sure that you ask whatever you need to know prior to the end of the auction.
Shipping costs will be around $2,000 t a major Port in the USA. We recently shipped a BMW 2002 Baur on a RoRo to Baltimore at a cost of $1,425.00. I am happy to get a more accurate quote for prospective buyers. I will handle all of the shipping arrangements on this end, clearing and duties etc will be for the Buyers account. The car has not been registered in Australia yet, and still has all of the California paperwork, so there should not be any duties or taxes payable as the car is returning to the USA.
Happy Bidding!
I reserve the right to end the auction early as the car is also advertised elsewhere.
