Vehicle description
Some twelve ears ago, I came across cars.com and bought this beauty from a retired fireman in Queens, NY. He said "if you find one piece of rust, your money back!". I liked that and wired him the money. It was on me then to organize the transport to Germany, where I was, never having seen the fireman let alone the car. A few nights of making phone calls revealed that among other things I needed a freight forwarder, a roro-vessel, and dozens of freight and customs papers. All that eventually fell into place, the Porsche was wheeled onto an ocean vessel and I spend two anxious weeks fearing the ship could sink.
When it arrived in Zeebrugge, I saw an almost completely factory original car (the exhaust was changed) that had just aged really well. The fireman"s promise about rust proved to be true and still is to this day. I changed back the exhaust, rewired the indicators, changed the head lights and fitted a metric odometer to pass German inspection. I paid customs and taxes and there it was, a 1970 Porsche in all original condition, ready to be taken on the road. That I rarely ever did, drasticly changing my original plan to use it as a day to day car into keeping a precious piece of metal warm and dry at all times.
Today I am selling the Porsche again. And since I was able to pull off all the buying and shipping from abroad and thereby acquire a great car, so should you. So, this beautiful 1970 Porsche 911T Sportomatic is sitting in Cologne, Germany and is auctioned of on ebay.de. Since someone in the US should be given a chance to buy it back I am putting up this listing, since German listings don"t show up on ebay.com. Should you be interested please don"t put down a bid here but head over to "Porsche 911T Sportomatic Bj. 1970" or item 292353721417 on German ebay.de. (www.ebay.de/itm/Porsche-911T-Sportomatic-Bj-1970/292353721417). But first here"s some more information on the car.
This 1970 Porsche 911T Sportomatic is sitting in a heated garage in Cologne, Germany. Mileage is around 39k trusting the odometer. I was very sceptical of that when I bought it. Having owned it for more than a decade you learn about a car"s technical and optical condition very well and it seems that the mileage is in keeping. An air condition was put in at mileage 26 at Midtown Air Conditioning on 229 10th Ave in Manhattan, (I wonder if they are still there;).
I have had the engine redone as that seemed to be the only thing the fireman didn"t leave untouched, gave it a set of tires and windshield wipers and apart from that did little else. I thought of removing the air condition and even the sportomatic in the beginning, but then luckily settled to leave it all be, since it is the way this car always was. Another car hit me once causing a fender bender in the front. It was repaired by a Porsche Classic professional shop on the other driver"s insurance expense (probably the most expensive fender bender repair I have ever seen. ).
For more information check out the German listing (see above) and check out this short clip: https:/ youtu.be/4j7-5kfu_PY. Make sure to turn on English captions. Again, please don"t put down bids here but on the German listing.
