Vehicle description
This is very well maintained original 6.3. All systems are operational and working well and I have years of detailed repair records starting in 1981. I have owned the car for 18 years and just don"t have the time to do the few things that it needs to be back in tip top shape and make it a beautiful example.
I have driven this car consistently over the years and I have had many many items replaced and repaired when they were needed. The last major trip was a 2000 miler and the car performed well, still drives, handles and runs down the interstate like its new.
It will need paint soon (see pics) as the current paint job, while cosmetically very well done (sometime in the 80"s), is peeling wherever a stone chip appears revealing the primer underneath (primer and paint are probably not compatible). The only rust on the car is under the chrome trim midway down the car (see pics). I have all new chrome trim for exterior and new windshield and door seals to be installed when the car is repainted.
The interior has some minor age showing, most notably the burled walnut on the dash and the wood trim at the base of the windshield need refinishing. The AC works well, the fan on the heater is frozen up and the sunroof needs a new cable.
Originally this was owned by Redwood Motors in Eureka, CA as the dealer"s personal car. It was sold in 1974 to a private owner who kept it in Carmel, CA and to the third owner in 1983. Throughout those years it was always maintained by Stahl Motors, the Monterey, CA Mercedes dealer.
Major maintenance notes for this model include the following:
166,337 new battery, master cylinder, disc brake calipers and pads on all 4 wheels 162,177 new tires on all 4 wheels 158,330 new suspension air bags installed 148,841 new stainless exhaust installed 122,138 miles fuel injection pump and nozzles rebuilt by Pacific Fuel Injection Company. 122,260 miles rear differential was replaced by Mercedes.
