Vehicle description

About this vehicle This 1970 Datsun 240Z is an original. The owner has had it for 5+ years. The vehicle is drivable and is mainly used for weekend drives. Seller"s Notes All sales final, no refunds or returns. Vehicle sold as-is. Deposit of $500 required when auction closes. Payment in full within 3 days. Vehicle Details It is with a heavy heart that I have to part with my 240z. It's a July 1970 vin 07578. 2 previous owners. ive owned it since 2015 and its always treated me well. It was parked in 88 and stored inside ever since. its 100% original, never modified. I have all the series one specific pieces that go with the car like the 2400 valve cover, the jack covers, ash tray, air filter, hub caps, etc. it was repainted in the 80s so it does need a fresh coat. There are small dents and dings but nothing too serious. Its presentable if you aren't too picky. It has never been in an accident. it does, however, have some rust. nothing structural but the floors definitely need to be replaced eventually. The doglegs and rear wheel arches need to be replaced, as someone decided to fix them many years ago with fiberglass replacement panels. I've just spent the last few months completely going through all the mechanics of the car, so it is reliable and everything works as intended. the matching numbers engine will go with the car, but it is seized. There is a freshly rebuilt L28 in the car now with the correct 1970 E31 head, and I have the reciepts to prove that. Its not a show quality car, but it's a good car for someone who wants to drive it, and eventually restore it somewhere down the line. The battery area, both front frame rails, hatch sill area, trunk, rockers, etc. all the typical rust areas are solid. The engine has less than 10k after a full rebuilld, brand new shocks, brakes, tires, alternator, starter, clutch, exhaust. basically everything thats going to need to be replaced, i just replaced less than 10 miles ago. The front passenger side fender was dented but i massaged that out, still a little wrinkly but its presentable. A few minor dings from hail or acorns but no major dents. She runs good and everything works. i drove the car almost every day for 2+ years. Everything is completely original, with the exception of the bottom part of the seat on the drivers side, but I saved the original if someone wants to have it re-stitched. The matching numbers block is in my garage but its seized so it'll need a rebuild. I have the title and a bunch of other paperwork to go with the car. it was also featured in Hemmings Sports & Exotic magazine. All that being said, YES the car is in decent shape for an unrestored New England Z, BUT it needs to be made explicitly clear that this car will need rust repair. It is NOT being advertised as perfect, or show ready. It is being advertised as a DRIVER quality car.Again, the floors definitely need to be replaced, passenger side is worse, but both need attention. Also needs dog legs and rear wheel arches. At the moment, its presentable, but there are underlying things that need to be addressed in the future. All other typical rust spots are solid. this is a perfect car for someone looking for a driver quality car that can be a long term, money making investmentThe history of the car, as I know it, straight from the (long time) second owner's mouth:The original owners, William and Kathleen Clancy, bought the car new on October 5, 1970. The first scheduled servicing was done 10/20/1970 at 624 miles. The last service record in their name states "6 month, 6,000 mile service" on 4/22/71 at 5,570 miles. They sold it to Henry and Elaine Otter on May 16, 1972. The first service record in their names states that the car had 12,700 miles on the odometer on 6/7/72 for its 12,000 mile, 12 month routine service. The service records continue until 7/17/73 when the car had its 24,000 mile, 24 month service, at 23,166 miles. Henry and Elaine occasionally drove the car until it was parked in 1988 with 87xxx on the odometer. I bought the car from Elaine Otter in May 2015 in original condition. I mechanically restored the car, but left the exterior untouched. I drove the car for 2 years, put 7,000 miles on it, then parked it until early 2021 when I, once again, refreshed everything mechanical. Images Download the Motors app
