1968 Double Cab 1904 stroker, Restored Driver
1968 neptune blue double cab. recent restoration, excellent running condition. no rust.
Fast, reliable, fun double cab for sale. factory double cab, all stock cosmetically but upgraded mechanically.
Has Wolfgang int pop out window kit in the rear side windows, no more broken ugly vent windows.
Handles awesome, front and rear unit sway bars, new shocks, tires, etc.
Has aux 15 gallon second gas tank under rear seat storage area, electrical switch on dash to switch between the factory tank and this tank. Both tanks filled from stock gas location. Gives a huge travel range on this double cab.
Bus has undergone full restoration about 2 years ago, including all necessary rust repair, body and paint, mechanicals, etc. It is a turn key registered and ready to roll driver. 10"s of thousands in restoration receipts convey with the vehicle.
Engine is a freshly built, less than 2,500 miles on it, 1904 stroker. 74mm counter-weighed crankshaft, 90.5 pistons, porsche length rods, torque monster. This bus does 70 on the freeway no problems at half throttle. Healthy motor, but no too big. Dual 40 Hadron carbs, mild cam, all new components internally, fresh line bore on dual relief case, all tin powder coated, dog house fan shroud and stock oil cooler system.
Tranmission is a freeway flyer gearing, later 75-79 bus trans with modified input shaft to mate to the type 1 upright engine, shifts nice through all gears, quiet, solid, upgraded shift ball in nose cone to stainless steel. 4 speed.
Chassis and body rust free, light undercoating on chassis, all metal work done professionally, and hundreds of hours in body and paint. Seams around tailgate and side gates sealed with miracle paint rust prohibitor for extra protection.
Complete set of new gates from Klassicfab! No more floppy hinges, and bent up gates. straight and solid with new hinges. All original latches. Truck bed has older patina look wood slats,ready to haul.
Power brake booster from later bus added to stock 68 drum brakes, turned drums, new cylinders, new master cylinder, shoes, wheel cylinders, etc. stops real nice.
New tie rods, drag link, steering coupler, dampener etc.
Interior was restored a few years earlier and is still in great condition, new cushions, covers, door panels, etc. headliner is brand new factory correct off-white.
All lights work, horn, wipers etc.
Front and rear seat belts are 3 point retractable for both outer front seats, and both outer rear seats, middle seat front and rear are lap belts.
