Vehicle description
Bought this as a stripped out shell and spent lots of money and the past 20 years of my life trying to put it back together. I will try not to make this too long. Original 400 car with hideaway headlights, aleutian blue with teal interior and white top. I have PHS doc. VIN in there but cowl tag missing but you can order them. A lot of rust and missing parts but majority is there. The dash is only tacked on and held with steering column bolts due to major rust between dash and firewall(luckily they sell this piece) and previous owner decided to cut the bottom supports off. I guess it made it easier to strip contents of dash. Don"t worry this is a real GTO, the hidden VIN matches the dash VIN. I used a lot of parts from a 68 lemans convertible to put back together. The engine is a 400 out of a 70 Grand Prix and still has decent compression. Does not run cause no fuel lines or gas tank. 9799914 block with #13 heads which are the good big valve heads. Engine made 350 horse from the factory. The transmission is a 400 turbo from a 78 Seville which is the same as a corvette. It has an extra clutch plate in one of the drive or forward clutches with an extra deep pan and larger 31 spline output shaft. It is missing an ear however so will need aluminum welded back on. The rear end is out of a 72 lemans meaning it is the larger 8.5 corporate instead of the 8.2 it came with. It is missing the diff however and rear drum brake will need installed that I have for it. The Frame was completely sanded down, painted and rebuilt with all new bushings, bearings, springs and shocks. Rear control arms have been boxed in welded for extra strength. All new steering components are installed with new wheel bearings. Brakes have supposedly been rebuilt. Other upgrades include a rebuilt corvette master cylinder and corvette steering wheel. Comes with everything pictured. The fenders are GM with patches professionally welded on. The hood is junk. The front lower valance is new and comes with a new driver quarter skin pictured. The driver door is solid but the passenger will need work. The top will need a new header panel and is frozen. Comes with 15x8 rear snowflake wheels. Car will need from front to back the following, headlights inner fenders, windshield, floor pans or patches(has holes), rear seat, quarter panels, a trunk pan and gas tank. Rocker panels and floor bracings are solid. The back of the rockers do have a small rust spot each. Also will need fuel and brake lines. I have many pics that I could not fit on to the posting so let me know if you need more.
