This is my 8th VW and I found this one in Mexico to be restored, since I had already owned another 66 in the late 1970s and it was one my favorite years. My Wolfsburg-66 was imported from Wolfsburg Germany to California and was number 442 from August 1965 to July 1966, right when t he song “Drive My Car,” was the opening track on the Beatles Rubber Soul album was released. The Wolfsburg-66 was sold to the first owner in Menlo Park in 1966 and eventually migrated south. Much detailed restoration has happened. The engine and body are matching the original title. The engine has been rebuilt and has less than 20k miles on it. Interior has been restored with a modern look, with a new stereo. It"s a rare find, a true classic, and with a few finishing touches, it could be auctioned at Barrett-Jackson Auction. Currently it is garaged in central Mexico, so shipping is negotiable.
