Vehicle description
You are bidding on a special car. This 1966 S-Type 3.8 Jaguar was purchased new by Janet Lee Bouvier, mother of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. The car comes complete with documentation to prove its provenance, including the original manufacturer’s warranty card from 1966 as well as a Rhode Island registration card from 1979, each is in her name and included within the photos listed above. In addition, there are published articles that reference the car which I will includes prints of as well as an original newspaper from 1995 which has a front-page article on the vehicle. I had purchased the car last year with an intention of restoring it. I have not even managed to lift the hood, ill health stopping me in my tracks. I had bought the car specifically due to its history, knowing it would be a special car once completed. I am hoping there is someone else out there that thinks the same. First the stuff that really matters if you are going to restore this car…this is a numbers matching car. The body, engine and transmission all match the Jaguar Heritage certificate and therefore were installed on the car when new. The car itself appears to be complete and original. It has been painted a blue/grey but was originally black. The original red leather interior is in situ (and will need restoring). I have not attempted to start the engine but considering it has completed only 1000 miles since 1995 when it had 55k miles on it, I am 99% sure this is an original 56k mile car. In terms of the underside, it is remarkably solid. I see one area on the front P/S outrigger where there is rust. The outrigger will need to be replaced but that’s about it. It will obviously need a total restoration of the interior BUT there is a trunk FULL of spare wood, gauges, panels etc which are included. I am sorry not to be able to give this car a second lease on life but sincerely hope someone else will be able to do so. Please note that I have advertised this car in multiple locations and so the auction may be ended early if I sell it elsewhere.
