I bought this car from the original owners son last month. He inherited it from his father who bought it new in 1966 from Palm Springs Ford. Car has spent it"s entire life in dry CA and is as rust free as you will find. It was garage kept its whole life and the 45K miles on the odometer is original and not rolled over. It still has the original black and yellow rear license plate. Car has a clear CA title. I own a Mustang shop and have owned, built and restored 1000"s of Mustangs in the past 30 years and this one is one of the nicest and preserved examples I have ever seen. It deserves to be put back on the road and will be a simple and easy project for someone with the time where you can put the drivetrain and suspension of your choice on the car and have a spectacular example of a 1966 Mustang.
The son had the car disassembled and repainted in its original Candy Apple Red in 1999 by a very reputable paint shop at a cost of $8K. They did a very nice job and is PPG Base coat/clear coat with 3 coats of base and 3 coats of clear. It has been color sanded and buffed for a nice deep shine. Emblem holes were filled. Life got in the way and the son never reassembled the car. He planed on making a resto-mod out of the car with a stroker motor and bought a Swartz Performance custom made frame for the car and started fitting the frame to this car. He removed the rear wheel wells, part of the trunk panels and front clip to fit the frame. I bought the whole project from him and am using the Swartz Performance frame on one of my 67 Fastbacks. I bolted the front clip back on and tack welded the rear trunk panels back on and mocked up the car as you see it now. You can finish welding the panels back on if you are going back to stock, or use aftermarket wider wheel wells to fit a wider rear wheel like he planned on doing. Car is a clean slate and blank canvas for you to build the Mustang of your dreams and is a simple and easy project as there isn"t rust repair and paint to do. I built a dolly that is included with the car for you to roll it up on your trailer or have a transport company pick the car up and deliver to you. I have used a shipping company for many years that can ship it from my door to yours at your expense and am happy to get a quote for you as well as help load it. car rolls easily on the dolly"s.
Car comes with everything shown. Nothing more, nothing less. Use the drivetrain and suspension of your choice. Extra parts in last two pictures come with the car and have been placed inside the car. All the chrome and stainless steel is very nice as is the paint. Dash pad is not cracked. Steering wheel and center is nice. Floor pans very clean with original red oxide primer underneath. Front seats have adjustable lumbar and are custom upholstered and fitted with the original 1966 Mustang seat tracks so no holes were cut in floor to make them fit the car. They recline and fold forward to let people in the back seat and are very comfortable. Rear seat is original vinyl with no rips or tears. All 4 windows roll up and down properly. All glass is original Ford Carlite with no chips or cracks. Car also has a Custom Autosound stereo with remote and duel dash speaker and 2 6X9"s in the rear package tray. Headliner and visors are very nice with no rips or tears. Even the underside lips of doors and battery box have no rust! Front headlights and rear tail lights are both upgraded LED units. I have a custom brand new Haneline instrument cluster with Autometer white faced gauges and sending units available for another $750 (cost new was over $1100), a new Grant leather wrapped steering wheel and adapter to fit to stock steering column available for another $200 (cost new was over $375), and a rebuilt World Class small block Ford Tremec T5 5 speed manual transmission, shifter, bellhousing, clutch, clutch fork, throw out bearing, and flywheel for $1500 more.
