Vehicle description
This is a very clean, restored 3-4 years ago to original Volkswagen Karmann Ghia.
It is a NON-EXPORT model - it was meant for the German Domestic Market, and brought to the States by a member of the US Military back in the 60s.
The car was given a sympathetic restoration by the previous owner. It was done with the intent of replicating original intent. It is unique in that it doesn"t have the side chrome trim strips, has satin black wheels, and black sidewall Firestone bias-ply period-correct tires. It is also still a true 6 Volt car! It has many newer items, including all new carpet and a nicely finished interior.
The paint is a great color with a lot of pop.
Because it is the earlier model, it has the more desirable smaller brake and signal lights, and the more stylish side-view mirror.
This is not a concourse car, but rather a very nice quality driver. There are some known flaws, including some chips and other paint flaws (shown in pictures), one of the heater ducts from the exchanger needs replaced, and the dash pad, while new, is not for the right year ( I think).
We"ve had a lot of fun with it, taking it to local events, and it gets a LOT of attention. We"r only getting rid of it to consolidate. We will miss having it! We"re also selling a 1970 Lotus Europa S2 on here as well as part of the consolidation if you"re interested! :)
Please ask any questions you may have. We have a flawless reputation on for a reason. We try our best to fairly represent our items. So if you want more info or details, just ASK! We want you to bid with confidence, and feel good about your purchase.
Full payment due within 10 days of auction close.
Thanks for looking!
