Vehicle description

You"re bidding on a 1964 Lincoln Continental convertible with the iconic "suicide doors." I"m helping an elderly friend clear out his storage building in Mundelein, Illinois (a suburb northwest of Chicago), where this car last ran sometime in early 90s. Some type of electrical issue invited some disassembly of the dashboard. .and the project was eventually abandoned.
This car is being sold as-is, and has been stored inside the storage building since. It shows a good deal of surface rust, but nothing is rusted through. The motor appears in all-original condition (with air conditioning), with all parts intact. Aside from the partially disassembled dashboard, all the interior parts are intact. The car is fully equipped with power seats, power locks and air conditioning. The odometer shows 68,964 miles.
The fifth letter in the VIN reveals the motor to be a 430-V-8, with a four-barrel carburetor. The VIN also reveals that this car was production #9,649. The body tag reveals the car has the body color code "F" (powder blue) with Trim 85 (white top with red leather interior). The build date code is 05L, which means November 5, 1963.
The paperwork left in the car shows a clear, documented trail: The Lincoln was built in Ford"s Wixom (Michigan) plant, and delivered to Jenkins & Wynn Motors in Clarksville, TN, on Nov. 6, 1963. It was sold days later to Baggett Auto Rental in Cadiz, KY, and immediately leased to Brown Baggett (a son, perhaps?) in Fort Lauderdale. This was discovered from the Ford OwnerID car that was in the glovebox.
In 1971, the car made its way to a Chicago suburb. I believe my friend purchased it in the mid-1980s. The car ran well at that time.
Unfortunately, getting photos of the undercarriage aren"t possible, but the floors appear solid.
The terms of the purchase are $500 in either cash or cashier"s check within 5 days of the sale, with the balance due before pick-up. The Illinois title is clear. The buyer is responsible for picking up the car in Mundelein. I"m happy to work with any transport service that you hire. Questions? 847-217-4695.
