Vehicle description
1963 Pontiac Lemans Coupe, 326 V8, AT, Trans-axle, PS, PB, Rare factory AC BARN FIND! Actually this car was found in a storage container in the Southern California desert where it had been stored since1995. After purchase it was shipped to Grants Pass Oregon and then to Fortuna, CA The gas tank was removed and cleaned and coated outside (there is a dent in the gas tank but no leaks), all fuel lines cleaned, hoses replaced, new fuel sending unit and new fuel pump. New tires. All the brakes were removed, brake lines flushed, front hoses replaced, Master cylinder replaced, shoes replaced, brake cylinders rebuilt, drums turned. New battery installed and the positive cable replaced, Oil and filter replaced, engine flushed and oil and filter replaced again. Cooling system flushed, new timing chain cover and radiator hoses. New aluminum radiator. Automatic transmission fluid was changed and new pan gasket installed. Transmission shift cable was replaced. Some of the front suspension bushings were replaced as well as the driver’s side strut bar and both front strut rod bushings. Other than a little surface rust in a few spots and in the trunk I have found no cancer. The trunk surface rust was cleaned up, treated and primed. There isa spot on the passenger side lower fender that looks like cancer however there is no sign of rust on the inside (photos on request). The car shows evidence of having been repainted at some point. Engine runs great with no smoke. Transmission shifts as it should. The car has not been driven on the road since 1995 and is not currently licensed. I have driven the car a couple of blocks and the transmission shifted smoothly. The new brakes work well however the Master cylinder vacuum booster doesn’t appear to be working properly so it’s like driving manual brakes rather than power brakes. Unknown if the odometer is accurate.
Car comes with the original radiator, all parts that were replaced and a lot of other parts. This is a great unmolested car and perfect candidate for an easy full restoration. It is NOT perfect. It has its assorted scratches, dings and bumps. The driver side fender and trim has a wrinkle that should be easily removable. Cracked driver’s side door window. The head liner has been removed. AC not currently working. Glove box liner missing. AM radio missing. The back seats appear perfect but the front seats do not have the correct upholstery. Please look closely at the photos. These cars are really hard to find. 1961, 62 &63 were the only years with the trans-axle. This particular Lemans was built in Southern California and is one of the rare ones with Factory AC as opposed to dealer installed AC. More pics upon request. I have done my best to honestly represent this car but claim no responsibility for inaccuracies or things that I am not aware of and strongly encourage buyers to inspect the vehicle an make their own judgements. Signed State of CA title in hand issued 02/10/95. Contact me for more photos or questions.
