Vehicle description
This 1962 Olds Starfire is a very nice restoration of a totally rust-free Southern California car completed in 2005. It received more than 930 points in judging at the 2005 OCA National Meet in Seattle. I am selling the car for the widow of the life-long Olds collector who meticulously built it. The restoration included complete dis-assembly but the body was not removed from the frame. At one point there was nothing but the bare body shell sitting on the frame. Since 2005 the car has been stored in a climate controlled structure. Since 2005 the car has been driven only to car shows and has accumulated a little more than 6000 miles since the car was rebuilt. It operated flawlessly during the 3000 mile round trip from Riverside CA to Seattle in 2005. I was caravaning with the owner in another 62 Starfire.
The blue interior is immaculate. It has the correct original Starfire floor inserts in the carpet. The top is a very expensive fabric top done in the original blue color. The aluminum siding is original but very nice - some small nicks. The white exterior paint is absolutely flawless.
This car has all but one of the available factory options including rare power vent windows, speed sentinal, Wonderbar radio and cruise control (Oldsmobile factory kit - dealer installed only in 62). I believe only the Autronic Eye was not ordered. The car was factory built with all these options - not added on. I have known the car since Mike bought the car from the original owner in the late 70s.
A couple of small issues with the car since the owner passed away: (1) one or more wheel brake cylinders may be stuck from sitting since 2013. (2) the correct size 225-75-R14 Cooper Trendsetter SE tires are serviceable but are now 12 years old.
