Vehicle description
This is a very good example of a 1962 Corvette. It was professionally appraised in 2005 for $45,000 and 2020 for $68,500 FMV (copy of 2020 appraisal available upon request). It is definitely appreciating in value. I am asking $62,500.
History: My father purchased this car in the mid-late 1960s, and I believe he was only the 2nd owner. He was an engineer and racer. He modified and raced the car in amateur track competitions (quite successfully) in the late 1960s to early 1970s. Being an engineer, he was constantly tinkering with the car and about every 10 years he would disassemble, overhaul, and repaint the car, bringing it back to original stock condition by the 1980s. In the 1980s - 1990s it was his daily driver to work. He also participated in car shows, road rallies, and local Corvette club activities. In the early 2000s he completed it"s final overhaul and off-frame restoration and repainting. I took ownership of the car in 2005 after he passed away. I also enjoyed driving it and participating in car shows. I have kept the car in good running condition and repaired and serviced the car as appropriate (I have full maintenance records since I took ownership).
Details: Mileage: 85,054 as of 9/29/2021 Color: Roman Red exterior, red interior Engine: 327 CI V- 8, Holley 4-barrel carburetor, Chrome Edelbrock air cleaner, Offenhauser aluminum intake manifold, aluminum valve covers, aluminum radiator. Engine casting #3782870. I cannot find an engine serial # but it is the correct casting # for the year. Drivetrain: 4-speed manual with Hurst shifter. Positraction rear differential. Convertible with original hard top and soft top, both in good condition. I will include a hard top storage dolly if you wish.
Wheels: American Racing 15" Chrome alloy rims with BF Goodrich 22/60-R15 tires (tires show some possible dry rot but no cracking) Dash: Factory original except the tach might be not be stock. Aftermarket AM/FM cassette radio installed, but I also have the original Wonderbar radio which I had overhauled recently and will include with purchase. Hood: Aftermarket hood which shows some delamination (bubbles in paint). I have the original hood which was modified with an air scoop. I will include if you wish. Known defects: the only known defect is the fuel gauge does not work properly. As far as I know everything else is operational. Starts up easily if it is run every week.
Extras: Besides the radio, hood, and hard top dolly, I have many other parts and service manuals, too many to list. I will include any that you wish with the car.
Conditions of sale: I cannot warranty the vehicle, but of course the sale will be contingent upon a satisfactory test drive and mechanic"s inspection. You are responsible for pickup/delivery. I can refer shipping services if needed.
Please email me any questions. This is a treasured heirloom that was taken care of well and is looking for a new owner that will enjoy it.
