An unrepeatable chance to buy a piece of automotive history. This 1962 Alfa Romeo Giulia TI is an unique car, one of the very first examples built in the year of its presentation (which took place on June 27th, 1962 at the Monza racetrack), still equipped with drum brakes (only twenty two thousand Giulia TIs were manufactured during approximately one year at the historic Portello factory in Milan, - as can be seen watching this video: https:/ www.youtube.com/watch?v=hoGquiEBA08 - before the transfer of production to Arese in 1963 and the introduction of disc brakes). Therefore a very particular example, a sort of Holy Grail, representative of the very first edition (type 105.14); the AR * 402366 * chassis qualifies it as the 2365th Giulia (hand) built (out of a total of nearly 600 thousand Giulia saloon produced from 1962 to 1977) in the summer of 1962 (the numbering starts from the AR * 400002 * chassis) and the certificate attesting the production date and other details should soon arrive from Alfa Romeo Classiche to confirm this car as the oldest Giulia saloon still in existence. Registered in the Tuscan province of Siena on October 8 th 1962, this car has had only one owner (qualified as “industriale”, industrialist, according to the paperwork) in almost sixty years; today it is complete with everything (even the original keys) and in almost totally original conditions but needs a general restoration. The only incorrect details for the TI version are the front grille (it is that of a Super from 1967, but the correct item is available with the car), the interiors in vinyl instead of cloth (although the seat structure is the original one with the front bench seat) and the maroon colour (introduced at the end of the sixties in the Giulia range): the original colour, mid grey, emerges here and there on the outside and is clearly visible inside the engine compartment. The structure of the body appears intact and free from damage due to accidents, it is substantially rather healthy, some little holes and rust spots can be found only in the floor on the passenger side (right) and under the rear seat. The interior needs to be totally redone but the headlining is still in fairly good condition. The mechanics are absolutely complete and original: as said there are drum brakes, the front ones are the legendary Alfa Romeo drums, finned and made of aluminum alloy; the engine, not working, is correctly of the AR00514 type (twin cam, 1570 cc, 92 hp, a single twin choke Solex carburettor, matched to a five speed, column shifter, gearbox). These early Giulias had also a strange defrosting system for the rear screen which used the warm air blown by the front heater fan under. The documents present are a PRA (Pubblico Registro Automobilistico) Estratto Cronologico (Chronological Extract) which certifies that the car is not currently registered; a bill of sale will also be issued; there is also the original owner’s manual and another new original English edition instruction manual; a workshop manual is also available. It is located in Giaveno, 30 kms from Turin, 30 minutes from the city airport, can be collected locally but I can easily arrange cheap shipment for any destination in the world. LOW RESERVE! !
