1961 PEUGEOT 403 BREAK, RARE WAGON.
I have lived in Arizona for 36 years and this is the only Peugeot 403 wagon I have ever seen in Arizona or anywhere in the US. And I have collected old French cars for almost as long. I don"t know for a fact but I doubt there"s 10 wagons in the US, but I could be wrong about that.
Anyway, this car got cosmetic damage when it was in a storage lot and cars close to it burned. It damaged the paint on the roof and left side, the windshield, all dash plastic etc. The body itself is very nice with almost no rust at all except for a fair amount of surface rust by now. There"s a dent on the left front fender since I took the pictures.
I was planning on installing a big sliding sunroof, like on VW Busses but i"m getting close to retiring and I still own too many project cars so it is time to start selling a few of them instead.
I am selling the Break in this auction but I also have a 1961 403 4dr sedan, one owner Arizona car that was parked 40-50 years ago when the original lady owner stopped driving. It is also for sale but NOT included in this auction.
I had 2 tinted/shaded windshields made in Europe for the 2 cars. And I had another 403 wagon, a diesel taken apart in Europe and all good parts were sent to me in Arizona so I have extra bumpers, doors, seats, station wagon wheels, a complete front clip, from the windshield and forward including the complete diesel engine.
All that is also for sale but it is separate of this auction so please note, it in NOT included in this auction.
Everything is at my house in down town Phoenix, Arizona.
The wagon comes with an Arizona title in my name, I did not get a title with the 4dr sedan. The original owner was 93 when I bought the car and she and her relatives had no clue where it might be so the sedan will be sold with a bill of sale.
I"m selling the wagon at no reserve so the highest bidder will get the car.
The Peugeot 403 is not a sexy car like some old French cars but they were solid and great driving cars and of course the wagon is so rare. They had a great 4 cylinder Hemi engine and a 4 speed transmission I think it was considered a 3 speed plus over drive. I used to drive a 403 for years while living in Europe many moons ago including driving it across Europe (including in Paris) and the quality impressed me greatly.
