This truck was found in California. It was sold new there. Had been in the dry California climate for 45 years. It was transported to Scottsdale, AZ and gone thru at a a custom car shop. The shop in Az went thru the fuel system. Installed a brand new fuel tank and sending unit. Rebuilt the carburetor and replaced the float. New fuel filter. The ignition system was upgraded to a new "MSD" distributor. Electronic ignition. New plugs and ignition wires. Brand new stainless steel "block hugging" headers were installed. New exhaust pipes and "Flowmaster" muffler. New fuel pump was installed. The suspension was then gone thru. And at the same time the truck was professionally lowered. Upper and lower ball joints were replaced. New dropped spindles were installed. 4 inch lowering springs. "Belltech" shocks were installed. New rear adjustable track bar was installed. The brake system was all gone thru at the same time. New master cyl and lines. Front disc brake kit was installed. All new bearings, seals, rotors, and calipers. The truck was then aligned and drives super straight. Rear brakes were also done and the truck stops like a late model truck now. Then the truck was sent to a tire shop and had all new tires put on it. The bill from the hot rod shop was over $ 4,500.00. . . This was just a 3 years ago. The owner that found it in California and put all that money in it went on to a Camaro project. I bought the truck from him and had it shipped to me in Michigan. It is an impressive 60 year old Chevy truck. A true factory shortbox. 283 V-8. 4 speed transmission. The motor runs strong. No smoke, no funny noises. The exhaust sounds great, nice low rumble from the vintage small block. Transmission shifts great. Like i mentioned earlier, the brakes are excellent. Parking brake pulls tight. I have towed my vintage Shasta travel trailer down the highway with the truck and it never overheats. It has a full reese trailer hitch and trailer wiring. Along with a trailer brake controller on the dash. Gauges work. heater works. Wipers do not, although i ordered a new switch and it is included. The body on this truck is remarkable. Super straight and super solid. It has never had any rust repaired on it. It is very original. The paint is the factory original color and has great patina. everywhere i have taken this truck it has drawn crowds around it. People love it. I was told the vintage capper and aftermarket rear bumper have been with the truck from new. Has the orig "dog dish" hub caps on it. Old school aftermarket tow mirrors. You would be hard pressed to find another vintage short box Apache that is this solid and such great patina. And all the mechanical upgrades make it a nice truck to drive.
