Vehicle description
This is truly a museum quality as can be seen in the pictures, the car scored 972 points out of a possible 1,000 at the national Chevrolet show and most of the 28 points have been addressed since the show. The judging at this show was done by four teams of four judges, sixteen automotive perfectionists. Of great value is that this car has the rare 348 cu.in. engine with tri-power (triple carburetors). The introduction of the 348 in 1958 replacing the prior 283 engine designates this car as being the first “big block” production Chevrolet which then led to decades of “big block” Chevrolet development during ensuing years. I have owned this car since 1999, sixteen years. Most of the restoration work was done at Chicago Restorations, Inc. of Northlake, IL; a shop that can boast many Pebble Beach Concours d’ Elegance first place winners. I have been told by many collectors that they believe this car to be the finest 1958 Chevrolet in the world. While I won’t personally comment on this statement, I would merely say the score at a national show speaks for itself as to the quality of this car. This car looks, drives and feels truly “better than when new”. The restoration work was truly a nut and bolt project with every material restored/replaced to perfection. This car literally smells new as no element was missed. 1958 is considered a “one year only” model as so many elements are unique to the 1958 model reflecting many “art deco” details and a model that has grown dramatically in demand in recent years. Note: Shown on judging sheets as "Modified"; Car has FM radio in glove box, glass pack mufflers, and three speed trans; Turbo 350 in place of two speed power glide, easily changed. Due to these slight changes, car was put in "Modified Class".
