Here"s your chance to own and drive an "80s legend. A real verified piece of VW custom car history, Black Sunday. Back when flamboyant cars ruled the show scene in the "80s, Black Sunday stood out in the East Coast scene with its detailed pan, custom interior, suspension mods and sano bodywork. In the IVWA Strictly Show Class it was the car to beat. I didn"t make this up, it"s in the article. BLack Sunday was built by Bruce Cook. He took a "56 body and put it on a detailed " 67 pan painted deep maroon with plenty of pin striping. The antenna was Frenched, scoops were constructed on the W decklid from steel, and the turn signals were shaved and replaced with Rossi headlights. The interior was handed over to Elbert Efird who created an archetypical flamed masterpiece in GM velour! Suspension wise, the Car rolls on its original Centerline Champ Car wheels with brand new 205 75 15s with Porsche 911 rear race studs with 30mm trade spacers for ultimate rear wheel stick in corners. The rear wheels are controlled by Bilstein sport shocks and a camber compensator and the front wheels are controlled by Boge Shocks with anti sway bar for better ride quality. Over the years rear disc brakes were installed along with the originally installed front disc brakes. The gear box is a Transworks built freeway flyer. Originally the car was built with an 1835cc engine, since then it has recently been upgraded with a 74mm crank and brand new 90.5mm pistons and cylinders. It has dual 17esa oil coolers with oil filters and EMPI big sump with Compufire electronic ignition. This car is ready to go. There are some aesthetic issues, the paint has some flaws and the original interior is showing its age with some fading and padding degradation, all of which could be fixed or roll it as a loud and fast survivor from a bygone age.
