Vehicle description
1955 Packard Clipper Custom Constellation Hardtop. VIN# 5567-GL-2771. One Owner. 91053 Miles. First year for the NEW 352 CU. IN. V8. Largest Production V8 in 1955. Stored inside since 1968. Original engine, started and ran, but had very low compression and could not be driven. I removed engine for Complete Rebuild, see photos. Up-graded oil pump to 455 Old"s High Volume pump using "Packard Club" conversion kit with external "Full Flow Oil Filter". Starter, Water Pump and Carb were rebuilt. Factory Options: Power Steering, Brakes, Radio, Heater, Tented Glass ( All Glass is in good condition, no crackers or broken) Ultramitic Drive Transmission, and Torsion Level Ride Suspension. Interior is original and in good presentable condition, Headliner is like new, Seat Covers need cleaning. Dash is original and very nice condition. Interior / Dash lights, Horn, Blower Motor, Head, Tail and Directional lights all work. Car rolls. Chrome Bumpers, Stainless and Cast Trim are all in very good condition. This car has been in storage for over 35 years. As pictures indicate rust repair is needed around both Headlights, bottom of Front Fenders and Rocker-Panels under doors. The only Floor rust is on the Drivers Side (small hole). Passenger front and rear floors are solid. Trunk floor is solid. I did not see any rust in trunk or quarter panels. History as I know: Originally purchased New from Albrecht-Burke Motors, St.Louis MO. Purchased by Straub Inc. Straub owns a chain of Specialty Food Stores in the St. Louis Area. Mrs Straub drove this car from 1955 to 1968. It is reported that the car had Transmission problems and was taken to Performance Motors for service. The Ultramitic Transmission was repaired. Because of miles and age the owner inquired if Performance Motors knew of anyone who might be interested in buying the car. Car was purchased by Performance Motors and put in storage with many other collector cars. The original emblems are in good condition. Original "Owners Manual, Radio Manual, Owner Identification Card, Keys and Bumper Jack included with purchase. My shop is full, to many products, need to sell. This is a great looking car just needs to be completed. Deposit is non-refundable. Buyer is responsible for Loading and Transportation. International Buyers welcome. Buyer to receive a "Bill of Sale" and Clear, Signed Title. Thanks for looking. Gary
