If you are looking for a clean all original one owner car you have found it here. This beautiful 53" Chieftain Deluxe Convertible has been under the same continuous ownership since 1953 when it was purchased brand new. The car has been garaged and it shows. The body is clean and rust free, the paint is original, the interior is original, recently the only area of concern was the power convertible top which was replaced.
The car starts, runs, and drives with ease. This is not a project car, this is a car you can buy, register, and drive right now. Take to shows, and get complimented on. Even as I shot the photos of the car at a local park I had several compliments from passers by that simply had never seen one and in such nice shape.
The chrome shines as well as years past. The paint while not a fresh restored paint job, still holds its own for factory original 1953 Continental Maroon paint (5303 color code). The tires are in excellent shape, the spare, jack, tools are still the original in the trunk. The original books/dealer pamplets/build sheet still in the glovebox.
On the interior you have a clean dash, instrument panel, non-corroded buttons and switches. The rubber flooring in front is not worn out but clean. The drivers seat corner seam is separated as photographed but would be a very cheap and easy fix for an upholstery shop to fix. The seat is not torn. The rear carpet is clean but does have some wear in the fabric from people getting in and out. Again minor.
The car has a newly refreshed convertible top. The power top works flawlessly with no kinks/hiccups/ect. All the glass is clean, no damage or scratches. All the cranks function smoothly, the weather seals all in good shape. Again this car is in remarkable condition.
The mileage is honest and true. This was a weekend driver for many years. This Pontiac Chieftain is a rare, low mile example you would be hard pressed to find in this condition.
Car will be sold with a CT Registration and Bill of Sale
The car will come with some spare parts as well including a complete head assembly.
