Vehicle description
1953 Hudson Hornet
I will be listing a few cars here in the next week or two for my family. We are reducing are number of cars, so please see my other listings as well. I am not a dealer. These Hudsons not only have beautiful and unique styling features, but they were also tearing up the competition at the race tracks in the early 1950s! With the lowest center of mass among standard cars at the time, the Hudson was praised for its great handling and road worthiness so that stock car racers embraced them. The combination of the car"s light weight due to the advanced uni-body construction that Hudson called "step down" design, allowed Hudson drivers to win various stock car racing events from 1951 through 1954. Drivers proved it could out-handle and out-accelerate much of its supposedly more powerful V-8 competition. The company used the "Fabulous Hudson Hornet, nation stock car champion" description in its advertising. Drivers that were part of the Hudson team included Marshall Teague, Herb Thomas, Dick Rathmann, Tim Flock, Fonty Flock, Jack McGrath, Frank "Rebel" Mundy, and Lou Figaro. Together they accounted for 13 wins in 1951, 49 in 1952, and 46 in 1953. Not many of these Hollywood Hardtop models were produced and even fewer remain today. We have made a difficult decision to sell this one and hope to see it go to a good home. These don"t come up for sale often. If you"ve always wanted one, here"s your chance!
Details/Features: 308ci 6 Cylinder Engine with "Twin H-Power" (2X2 BBL) Hydra-Matic Transmission (4 Speed Automatic) 12 Volt conversion with alternator Air conditioning added (works great) New Wide White Wall Tires Accessory door handle shields Front and rear bumper guards Beautiful original dash and steering wheel Beautiful original car inside and out Tidy engine and trunk compartments Recent brakes, check up, tune-up, etc.
The original engine runs smooth, quiet, and makes very good power. The transmission also shifts well through all the gears. It is one of the better handling cars of that era and takes little effort to steer and stop. All of the glass is in good condition. Windows roll up and down pretty well (although the back are a bit stiff from lack of use). Hood, trunk, doors all open and close effortlessly.
The car is a beauty to look at both inside and out. It is an older restoration that still looks great and you don"t see these often! You can tell this has always been a good solid survivor car and was never a rust problem car . . The interior is very nice. Underneath the car looks good and solid as you would expect. Surely a car you will be proud to own!
Please see the photos and ask whatever questions you might have.
I reserve the right to end the listing early at any time for the right offer. The car could be for sale locally as well.
What could this car be valued at? If you look up many of the price guides, you"ll find that a car like this in excellent condition showing minimal wear holds a value of $39,000.00! These cars are climbing in value very quickly. You might want to grab this one before someone else beats you to it. Hard to find these cars especially at this price!
I welcome personal inspections from potential buyers. Shown by appointment.
