Vehicle description
This is a parts car #21314 with matching engine number XPAG TD2 21706. Years ago, someone disassembled the car and started to make it roadworthy. The project stalled and the elements were not kind to the abandoned endeavor.
It appears that the engine was rebuilt with a .030 bore, .030 rods and .030 mains and a complete valve job. Unfortunately the engine sustained water damage as the roof of the workshop leaked and water got in the bores. The rocker train wasn"t mounted so all valves stayed closed. As such, the head appears to be fine.
I was able to turn the engine about 1/4 revolution in each direction, but I didn"t put much torque on it as I didn"t want to damage the pistons from the rings trying to scrape rust from the bores. It is essential that this engine be completely disassembled, inspected, cleaned, bored, if necessary, and reassembled with new parts where required.
The frame and many chassis parts were painted with a rust inhibiting aircraft primer. The result is that there doesn"t appear to be any rot or rust-through in the frame.
Rear fenders and fender wells appear to be in very good, solid condition. The fuel tank is rusted through in several spots on the bottom and will need extensive repair. The tub requires new wood for the main rails and uprights. Rockers need attention but can be easily repaired if you"d rather not replace them. Cowl and hoods are in reasonable shape. Doors are fair with one broken hinge. Front fenders are solid but have some dents in the front portion. Radiator shell looks good, but suffers from the typical small dents and wear of the chrome where the front valance fits.
Windshield stanchions and frame are in good condition although the chrome is worn off on much of the stanchions. Note that the glass and windshield motor are missing.
Also missing are the bumpers, seats, top frame, side curtains and the dash board with instruments. What you see in the photos is what I am selling in this auction
Vehicle is being sold as a parts car. It could be parted out for substantially more than my Buy It Now price, but I don"t have the time to do so. There is NO title with it. Buyer will receive a bill of sale only. Note that there is no speedometer, so the mileage statement required by eBay is only a guess.
Car can be inspected in Burlington, Wisconsin and must be picked up there. I may be able to deliver it in Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania or New York. Contact Ed at 847-830-7193 for more details.
