Vehicle description
Took this in on trade on a restored 1973 Ford Ranchero valued at $20,000. Also paid $1,000 for original 1936 bed that is included
The owner I got this from purchased it in Oregon in 2001. I have $48,000 in actual receipts (2" thick file) he invested in this 1936 Ford PU. Personally, I think he grossly overpaid for fabrication and body work, but he worked for Boeing so I guess he could afford it.
This truck started out as a 1.5T boom truck. Up front is an all new Mustang II style Heidt"s power rack and pinion steering with disc brakes and coil over shocks. Has 2" dropped spindles for the proper hot rod stance. In back is a narrowed 9" Ford Positrack differential with Moser axles, 3:73 gears and new drum brakes. Differential is built for high horsepower applications. Includes Chevy 1/2T leaf springs and HD new shocks at rear. 20 gallon steel tank mounted in rear.
A new Walker brass 4 core BBC radiator is mounted. Radiator includes a built in Vintage air condenser already installed. Custom fabricated Chevy engine mounts are welded on the frame with a custom tubular transmission cross member mounted on the frame. A Gen 1 (350 Cu In 5.7L) Chevy engine and GM 700R4 (four speed A/T with overdrive) transmission are included, these were installed for mock up and should be considered as CORES ONLY, but may be good cores for rebuild! Note. . plenty of room in the engine compartment for BBC or Ford or SBC as shown with HEI.
The firewall is an all new steel BBC style smooth firewall. Brand new 15" radial tires are mounted on "Old School" Cragar chrome mags. The original 1936 Front bumper is in great shape. Inside the cab a new custom billet dash bezel is installed. Also, all the mounting hardware is already installed and ready for Vintage heating and A/C system including firewall mount. Bucket seats with sliders are installed on custom fabricated mounts. A Lokar shifter is mounted and connected to the 700R4 transmission and the Lokar emergency brake handle is installed. Both the brake throttle pedals are installed. As you can see, all the fabrication is first class. In the upper cab corners you will see new shoulder harness mounts for 3 points seat belts installed. A new Iditit polished tilt steering column is installed and hooked up including a new Mustang wood steering wheel.
A 1997 Ford Ranger stepside bed was used in place of the stock 36 Ford bed. The bed required massive hours to channel and modify to look and fit correctly. The bed floorr height had to be raised due to the channeling. It is Rhino lines and it is finished painted in the intended final red metallic paint. Many modern builders are grafting the newer stepside beds onto the 30"s and 40"s style pickups to create the restomod look. Some will like it and some will hate it, but it is what it is. It is exactly the right width and length and looks good from all angles.
Included is a correct original style 1936 steel pickup bed, tailgate and driver"s side fiberglass fender.
Regarding the all steel cab, fenders, hood, grille shell and doors. All metal was sandblasted and all rust areas were removed and replaced with new steel including floors, door bottoms, cab corners, etc. Doors were both reset and set up with proper even gaps and all hardware is installed. The underperforming original vacuum wipers were replaced with new Newport Engineering 2 speed electric motors with a custom cover. Original hinged front windshield replaced with new fixed custom frame (no leaks).
Almost 100% of fabrication and body work is completed and was done professionally, not by amateurs. The difficult, time consuming and expensive fabrication work is done. This is a project that requires completion. See other completed 1936 Ford Pickups selling in the $40,000-$60,000 range.
