Pittsford, Vermont, United States
Vehicle description
DETAILS: Delivered new to University Motors Ltd on the 1st of November 1932. This lovely old J-Type MG was originally bodied as a four seater J1, painted in Duotone Blue. At some point it was rebodied with an original 1933, cycle wing, MG J2 two seater body, (J1"s and J2"s have identical frames / chassis), retaining the original running gear, (J1"s and J2"s have identical running gear). Restored for it"s Canadian resident owner in the mid 1980"s, (original engine rebuilt / upgraded by mark expert Len Bull). The car was then imported into Canada and at some point moved with it"s owners to New Hampshire. This car was restored, (and has been extensively used) for Club racing. Clearly Mr. Bull knew what he was doing, as the engine is surprisingly powerful and rev"s remarkably well! I purchased the car earlier this summer. While I would really like to keep it, other commitments mean I really should sell. Since purchased it has been fully serviced: tuned, lubricated, brake drums removed / inspected, all fluids replaced, new tires, fuel pump, spark plugs, condenser, points, distributor cap, rotor arm, engine side plates and Dynamo / generator rebuilt. The running gear appears to be in excellent condition and she is an absolute hoot to drive! The exhaust note is rather fruity! The body is also excellent with no rust or wood rot. Chrome brightwork is very good, some light pitting / loss of chrome in a few places, the delightful radiator shroud is in excellent condition! The paint has a pleasant aged patina with some moderate loss, crazing and discoloration. Normally I am a bit of a neatnick when it comes to paint and insist on perfect finish for my cars and motorcycles. However, in this case I think the patina really suits the car. The interior is very good: one interior panel has an approx. 2" split that a trimmer should be able to easily fix, the carpets are a bit faded. In regards to weather equipment The car comes with a very good Everflex tonneau cover. It does not have a soft top or frame. Included with the sale is a partial history file, including MG Car Club information on both chassis and body. The car is not equipped with an odometer / speedometer, (large Jaeger rev counter only, please see pictures) so I have no idea what the mileage is. PLEASE NOTE THAT I DO NOT HAVE A TITLE, BILL OF SALE ONLY, (I will also supply a recent previous owners New Hampshire registration Certificate and insurance slip to help with registration). ALL SALES FINAL, WITH NO WARRANTY OFFERED OR IMPLIED. Car is available for viewing in central Vermont.
