Vehicle description

1929 Ford Model A Replica made by Shay and sold in Ford Dealerships in 1979 and 1980. All fiberglass car with steel hood, and was a modern replica created for the 50th anniversary of the original Model A. Classic styling with all of the modern conveniences that included factory Mustang II front suspension with front disc brakes, electronic ignition, 4 speed syncro-mesh transmission, 12 volt electrical system with modern starter, alternator and battery. Looks like a classic but this one actually runs and drives great, with dependability.
I purchased this car from an estate in 2013 and completely rebuilt the entire car. It has a new timing belt and water pump, new starter, new 1 wire high amperage alternator, balanced drive shaft, all new front disc brakes and rear drums with new lines, new interior and carpet, halogen headlights in stock 1929 headlamps. It has a new carburetor, new electronic distributor and electronic module, new radiator. I replaced the rear end with a Ford 8 inch with a rebuilt 4.11 center section and all new tube shocks. As the pictures show, the car only had 10,000 miles when I purchased it, and it now has barely 1500 miles on the new speedometer. The gauge picture show it carries 60 lbs of oil pressure at idle and charges 14 volts. I replaced the entire exhaust with a tubular header from a Ranger Pickup and a new dual outlet muffler. It has a throaty rumble and sounds great. Truly a reliable and dependable automobile. Cruises easily and effortlessly at freeway speeds, however with the 4.11 gears it is surprisingly quick and nimble around town!
It was painted by an amateur before I took ownership and was full of dust, scratches, dings and what wife calls character and war wounds. I had the car color sanded and buffed, and it looks great from 10 feet, and the shine really impresses people. This is a driver and it shows but everyone who sees the car always gives us a thumbs up! I have never considered a convertible top, as this car has always been a sunny day fun car, but I do have the framework and side canvas windows. I have been told that a stock Model A convertible roof fits perfectly, but I had no reason to consider.
I have just retired and need to clean out the garage, a difficult decision since this has always been, and still remains my and my wife"s favorite car. I hope it goes to a good home that will enjoy how much fun this car is! Clear title in my name a a 1980 Ford.
