Vehicle description

1925 Ford Speedster Model T
This speedster is a piece of California history. It was restored in around 1960 and raced in the Long Beach Model T Club hill climbs at Signal Hill. Back then hot rods were usually done with lots of chrome. There is thick 1960"s chrome, most tastefully hidden under the car. . things like brake levers, springs, fan, radius rods, engine mounts. This does not detract from the fact that this car is a "brassy Model T". I think that it"s radiator is an original 1915 round tube brass radiator in good working shape.
I bought this car intending to part it out for use in another project. But once I got a good look at it I just couldn"t do that. Then I found out that it has the Signal Hill history and is well known to the Southern California racers from the 60"s, one of the few surviving hill climbers.
I have uploaded a video on U-tube so you can see this nice car.
The hood is a Torpedo hood from Rootleib , the fenders, running boards, and splash aprons were from a Rootleib Speedster kit. The seats were built in the 1960"s and the cowl/hood former is antique Ford.
Color is Red, White, and Blue: white body, red under fenders and aprons, with blue wooden wheels.
I spent about $1000 on the magneto and it"s period mount with McEachern hardware. This car runs on the mag and you can see how easy it is to start on mag with the hand crank in the video. It would cost well over the buy-it-now price to build a car like this today.
I am selling this with a bill of sale only. If you are from California you must contact me before bidding as the CA DMV will not be able to get me a replacement title for about 3 months. The car is currently non-opped but is awaiting CHP verification because a previous owner lost the title.
This car runs well and is a blast to drive.
The engine is a 1918 non-starter block 4 cylinder Model T Ford engine. I has a ring gear on the flywheel, cotton bands, and has two spare tires. The tires are all old, but look safe to drive on and all have good tread. It has the original model T planetary 2 speed transmission. I have added LED head and tail lights. The battery is old and doesn"t hold a charge, you will need to get a replacement to meet your needs; since only the LED lights use the battery any small 12V gell cell will do fine. The car starts and runs on the Bosch DU-4 mag and does not use the battery for anything but the lights.
The gas tank is a stock model T 10 gallon with absolutely no leaks or rust, inside looks new not 100 years old! Headlight buckets are 1913 gas lights. The steering wheel has been lowered to a comfortable height. All of the wood has been replaced with solid oak except for the firewall which has been replaced with new Cherry Plywood.
Although you will be responsible for pick-up and shipping I will help if I can. Buyer should contact me as I may be able to provide trailering to some locations on my open trailer (as pictured) for a fee.
