For your consideration is a 1966 Plymouth in its most potent and desirable street legal form, the Street Hemi 426. Not only was this car born with a 426 4-speed, but it is black on black. All numbers and dates matching this 426 fully documented and rare! It is in fact, one of only 503 426 Hemi 4-speed cars available. Less than 56,000 original miles, and less than a few 1000 since restoration. The window sticker and Mopar authentication letters help add documentation to this rare car! I will do my best to describe the exterior, interior, underside, and drive train of this car. While ratings and descriptions are subjective, I am a professional collector car appraiser. Exterior: Color Code B, the sinister, sleek, and inherently tough looking black paint is a 9.5 out of 10. Most people would rate the paint 10 out of 10 but its hard for me to put any paint that is not 100% original at a 10. It’s rare when you find a black car that shows little blemishes, let alone one like this that is virtually blemish free. The paint measures even front to back. The body started out rust free and clean before restoration so there was no rust or corrosion repair. The trim, bumpers, lenses and moldings are all in great shape. The factory solar tinted glass is clear and scratch free. If anything needed replaced, NOS parts were sourced. Restoration was not necessary but the owner wanted to have the best of the best so a show quality restoration took place. Everything has been professionally done. Interior: The black interior has no flaws and shows only slight signs of usage, making it a 9.5 out of 10. All parts are either in show room condition, restored or NOS. All of the lights and gauges work as they should. The upholstery is correct, fresh and professionally restored. Headliner, carpet, door panels, dash, gauge glass and center console are all in show car condition. The dash pad has no cracks. This interior is the proper cockpit for a true 426 Hemi car. Drive Train: The holy grail of engines, the 426 Hemi is what powers this ’66! The 426 "Street Hemi" engine with two 4-barrel carburetors and 10.25:1 compression. This engine was rated at 425 hp at 5,000 rpm and 490 lb - ft of torque at 4,000 rpm. Matching, operating perfectly, this drive train is a strong 10 out of 10! Drive Train Engine: The original 426 Hemi has been professionally rebuilt by a Hemi expert. Born with 425 HP and almost 500 lb-ft, the engine now boasting more power that the it started out with. The specs are still around 10.5:1, 0.20 over, custom solid Comp Cam, with OEM headers, intake carb and ignition. The 426 sounds great, idles nice, runs like a race car but is still very mannered for the street. The exhaust is high performance duals that is set up for the street with full tail pipes and mufflers. There are cut outs after the headers and before the mufflers if you want to really get your neighbors attention. Not much sounds a good as an open header 426 Hemi! Drive Train Transmission & Rear: Hemi 426 Power is sent through a 4-speed manual transmission, Dana 60 rear axle, and optional Sure Grip limited-slip differential. From the factory, this black on black Hemi car has a 3.50:1 locking rear gear! The transmission, shifter, and rear end have all been gone through and inspected. They are in factory working condition. Underside: Rust free, accident free, its nice an clean! Brakes, suspension and steering are all fresh and in great working condition! Ready for either your car cruise or weekend at the track. Wheels and tires on the car come with it along with the factory steel wheels. A pair of slicks are available if you’re interested in a track run. Bid on this rare automobile with confidence. It has the quality to be a #1 show car, the power to be competitive and the documentation to prove it has the rare thoroughbred pedigree!
