This One Owner 1981 DeLorean DMC-12 shows just 16k miles and was garaged kept buy it"s original owner since originally purchased. Power comes from a 2.85-liter V6 paired to a 3-speed automatic transmission. Stainless steel exterior panels cover a fiberglass body structure, and the steel chassis is equipped with four-wheel independent suspension as well as disc brakes all around. This DeLorean is now being offered for sale in NJ with a clean Carfax and a clear New Jersey title.
The exterior was styled by Giugiaro and is finished in brushed SS304 stainless steel without a clearcoat. The car is equipped with power-assisted disc brakes at all four corners. The staggered cast alloy wheels measure 14″ in diameter up front and 15″ in back. This Delorean has brand new Toyo Extensa tires which are the current recommended tire from DMC.
The gullwing doors are supported by cryogenically-preset torsion bars and new gas-charged struts, which need only 11″ of clearance on either side to open. The passenger door does stay a couple inches lower than the drivers door. The lights, gauges, and electronics are all functional.
The rear-mounted 2.85-liter V6 was developed with Peugeot-Renault-Volvo and built under contract by DMC in France. DeLoreans were factory rated at 130 horsepower, and this example has a 3-speed automatic transmission that was supplied by Renault. $6500.00 in recent Fuel, Brake & AC Services.
